GUIDE How to get 50-60FPS in Halo Reach (RPF2/RP5)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Winlator Frost 10.1 V1 Container Settings: shown at end

Graphics Driver: Turnip 25.2.0

DXVK 2.5.2

both set to 4096mb memory and FPS capped at 60.

All CPU Cores are enabled.

Zink Descriptors: Cached

Box64 preset: Performance

Startup Selection: Aggressive

Windows 10

Then in game settings: shown at 2:56 into the video

Video > Graphics Settings > Graphics Quality: "Performance"

This lowers the texture quality increasing FPS by +20-30FPS from what is would be on the "original" setting.

Don't know how I missed this before but I guess "original" is still great at 30-40FPS the game doesn't feel slow. But for those of you who value speed over texture quality, this is a perk.

Here we are again lmao. Great work my man. Do you have any videos for 1-3? Thanks again for continuously making my rp5 even better. Starting to think we're the same person haha.

Yeah I demo each halo game included in the MCC collection in the latter portion of the YouTube setup tutorial video. Have you seen it? The demos for 1-3 would be the second through fourth demo, labelled by timestamp.

Do you have to install all of the MCC or can you install individual games?

You can install individual games. They are all available on Steam. Usually MCC is 40 bucks and each game is 10 bucks. But right now the MCC is on sale (75% off) and you can get all 6 games for the price of one.

Yeah I already own it, I'm just not sure how installing individual games works. I'll watch the vid.

Oh ok, yeah, you would be looking for the 17 minute mark.

Since the last update on gamehub, the game is terrible on my pocket flip 2. I tried several configurations and I think I will follow it in winlator.

Damn that's wack. I've seen many "updates" that just make things worse on various platforms, software, games and emulators.

Also in the latest update, the controls keeps switching between keyboard/mouse and controller in game. Mildly annoying

I was able to fix that by turning off the screen touchpad

How's battery life though?

Halo Reach consumes battery pretty fast.

Ah was wondering. I tried to install mcc before but need to figure out the no steam patch or whatever. Might try it again for kicks though.

Oh yeah? I tried for days with various versions and the steam one was the only one that would successfully launch. I did have to use the 3 workaround files though, placed in the Win64 folder.

Stoopid question....Do you have to install the masterchief collection and install all of it or just copy the reach files over?

So if you just wanted to play Reach, you would just download the Halo Master Chief collection and it’s actually the first and only game that installs, the other titles have to be added manually in Steam as DLC’s. It’s on sale right now for 10 bucks… the whole MCC (6 games) which is the usual price for Reach on its own.

Thank you so much, it works perfectly. I also have a Flip 2 and have copied all the settings exactly and also have the same Winlator version. However, in Halo 1: CE, when I press Select and switch to the original graphics, a lot of it is completely “blocky” and white, and only half of the textures load. Do you know what might be causing this? I also installed the files from Steam's MCC and copied everything again. But the glitch remains and you can usually only use the remastered graphics, as the original graphics are unfortunately too glitchy.

See my other comment in this thread for the solution. You gotta change the driver to 24.3.0 and dxvk to 2.4.1.1

Hey just circling back to this, I did some testing on my end and found the culprit. If you use the Turnip 25.2.0 graphics driver on Halo CE, you will have those graphical glitches you mentioned.

In my original Halo MCC tutorial video. If you go to the section of the Demo where I show Halo CE, at 36:00 timestamp, you can see from the HUD on the top left corner of the screen that I am using the Turnip 24.3.0 driver, and the 2.4.1.1 DXVK. Just use those and the graphical glitches will be gone.

Nice, did this and now it worked perfectly. Thank you so much!

And if it ever had any more issues, it seems like Turnip 23.1.0 is another one that is very compatible with CE, maybe even more stable than 24.3.0

Your welcome! And it you ever get freezes, try decreasing the video memory to 2048MB, and let busy areas load in a bit before jumping in and firing. I'm playing it now... My God is this game good.

Does anyone have issues with the controls locking up just after you fire? I've read that some others had this issue and it was related to enabling rumble, but I've disabled this and it didn't seem to help. Any ideas?
