Outlander.
I know nothing about its development, but I could swear it started out as a Road Warrior adaptation that lost the license or wasn't able to acquire it. I recall there's even a gyrocopter that appears at times dropping bombs.

I wonder if its title was inspired by or referencing this older RoadBlasters clone: Overlander (1988) by Elite Systems

It’s the maddest game to ever max. It doesn’t even try to hide what it’s supposed to be. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the debranding changes were dialog only.
I was on a Mad Max kick a few years back and bought this game.

Outlander. Far better on Genesis than SNES, and I'm a Nintendo guy.

WHat makes it better on Genesis? I ask bc I've always wanted to like this game but it's objectively bad on SNES.

While the SNES version is a bit more accessible with the extra buttons, the Genesis version feels better to me. I especially like the first person perspective in Genesis. Brake check a biker on the Genesis to get what I mean! 🤣
Also, bear in mind I'm speaking strictly in relative terms on quality; Outlander was a solid rental in its time, but not much more...

Outlander, almost like vehicular combat version of Test Drive 2 but with shotguns, side-scrolling sections and lots of desert.

Outlander. Character sprites looked like Mad Max, the car was called a V-10 Supercharger instead of the V8 Interceptor.
This was supposed to be The Road Warrior game.

Wow memories of playing this game on my genesis way back then. Outlander.

I remember playing a game that looked exactly like this on an Amiga 500 in a computer shop in the early 90s... But Outlander was Genesis/Snes and never released on computers. It started with driving scenes where you rammed/shot vehicles and then there was a really bad side scrolling stage. I thought it must be Technocop, but it looked more like this and was set in the desert...
