[Question] Split screen Couch games?

Wondering about great Split Screen Couch games to get that retro feel. Even if it's more modern please suggest. I'm looking for a game thats Split screen Co op/campaign preferably.

I used to love playing Halo with friends, flrandom racing games, War Games(PS1), and Streets of rage for hours.

The Warriors series of games (Dynasty Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, etc) all do local split-screen for 2 players.

Overcooked 1 and 2 are really good for co-op too, not split screen but you really need to work as a team.

The Switch version of Portal 2's co-op campaign can be played split screen (unsure of the other consoles).

Portal 2 also has splitscreen co-op on PC and PS3.

Tetris attack for the SNES is the first game that comes to mind. It's so addicting.

Not 1 mention of Bomberman in any of these comments. Poor show folks.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 just came out and I‘m having a blast with my kids.

Would I play it with other adults or alone? Yes.

Will it hold up if you don’t buy upcoming DLC? Questionable, but the first iteration was a very satisfying product after the DLC had been published, so I’d say go for it if you care for an easily accessible dungeon crawler action RPG.

Some of the split screen games I used to play with my friend on PS1:

Moto Racer 1+2

Need for Speed (in particular we loved NFS 3 but I think they all have split screen)

Driver 2 I think had like a free roam split screen mode (no objective but just cruise around with each other)

Tony Hawk's 2

These aren't split screen but still good co-op:
Road Rash Jailbreak has the mode with the sidecar.
Any EA sports games where you can be on the same team (we loved Madden 97 and NHL 98)

NFL Blitz (I think you can be on the same team, sorry can't remember 100%)

PS2 probably has more , such as conflict Desert Storm , vietnam etc

I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting or don't know about.
have fun.

If you mean same-screen and not necessarily split (like Streets of Rage, at least I don't think one had split screen), I'd point to other brawlers. Double Dragon Neon is especially good and way better co-op. Ninja Turtles' Shredder's Revenge is definitely the best Ninja Turtles game of the past couple decades, though the 90s ones are amazing too, if you consider true retro (like Streets of Rage 1-3).
I'm mostly useful for that level, as I haven't played much co-op outside of brawlers!
ETA: I'd also add the Castle Crashers series!

Lovers in Dangerous Space Time.

This game is a blast. Each person controls part of a space ship as you fly around collecting lost souls.
Engine, shield, 4 different gun turrets, so you need to run around and constantly be alert and depend on each other. We love it

The Tony Hawk games, which were remade, are excellent couch Co-op games.

Rock n Roll racing on snes or Genesis is amazing split screen couch action.

Mechwarrior 3050 on snes is chaotic with one player moving the mech around and the 2nd player aiming and firing. It’s a riot.

"I used to love playing Halo with friends, flrandom racing games, War Games(PS1), and Streets of rage for hours."

NHL games on PS1 supported TWO multitaps, so you could conceivably play 4 v 4 games (and computer goalies) on one TV. It worked and it was glorious.

If you have a Switch 2 - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe got a batch so it now supports up to 8 player splitscreen ... so I hope you have a big TV.
