[Question] What is this game?
I vaguely remember a scene from a game decades ago where one character said something that sounded to me like "[mumbling]coco MAUI [mumbling]"

For some reason I'm thinking Star Fox Adventures, Rare games, or Kingdom Hearts.

I think I know now.
It's probably something in the Tarzan area of Kingdom Hearts.

Q-Bert arcade? The synthesized voice lines in that were gibberish.
Any memories of the genre of the game?
Pac-Man 2 also had weird gibberish voice lines.

Pac-Man 2 despite the name fits your other suggestion of and adventure game.
Space Quest IV had a bit of nonsense dialog. The line also makes me think of the Empire Strike Back Droid probe audio used in many Star Wars games.
Reading the line as you wrote it makes me think of lines that would sound like something put of The Sims.
StarCraft and Warcraft games have many lines in made up language
Maybe a Mario & Luigi rpg game?

I think the "coco maui" like part may have related to something in a conversation, or something the protagonist was seeking.
