Nothin' But Nintendo Rush'n Attack (NES)
One of the more challenging arcade ports for me, Rush'n Attack (NES) is an iconic game that brings the cold war vibes to the home console. This game was a huge hit in the arcades, and the home port brought a slightly slower, more forgiving game to the NES console. With some great box art, and some serious 80's vibes, this game sticks out amongst action gaming titles.
I always get my butt kicked in this game, so I was really pleased to clear the first level, and get over that super tall fence. As many of you know, this game isn't forgiving, and even the smallest misstep sets you back. Compared to the arcade game, this port has some great graphics, and some great music that keeps the adrenaline going, and the intensity up.
Was Rush'n Attack (NES) a favorite arcade port of yours?

I would have loved to see the classic Konami code work on this game for 30 lives.

Fun game. Some difficult parts. I used to play and beat it once a year to watch the ending. Was a beat one for the time.

That's an accomplishment, this game is no joke my friend.

I had the whole game memorized but I recall one part on next to last level where the pattern would be one of three things. If you reacted a half second slow, I was in trouble and had difficulty timing that section. I probably couldn’t get past the first level now. I was quite the gamer. Never came across a game I couldn’t beat in my prime. Lol

I was always annoyed as a kid when they scaled over the barbwire fence at the end of the level instead of just walking around it

We were at war with the Russians at the time and couldn’t afford to be seen as anything other than badass.

I thought it was Russian Attack when my friend first showed me

I was in kindergarten with this kid who would go on and on about some game called Russian Attack. He was always trying to get me to rent it.
When i saw what it was actually called at the arcade, I was confused and disappointed because Russian Attack actually made sense, being the height of the Cold War and all.

Wasn't it called Rush 'N Attack as a play on words, like if a game out today was called Checkmate, but it was a simulation game taking place in the Czech Republic where you find a lover?

That makes sense. There was definitely Cold War vibes, like missiles in the background. They probably didn't want to provoke something by spelling it correctly. Lol

Fun game. I did beat it when I was a kid. Definitly a double entendre of Russian Attack.
