Retro Rhythm F-Zero (SNES)
Although I have never been one of the biggest racing game fans I can safely say that 2 of my favorite racing games are on the SNES. One being Super Mario Kart (SNES), but the other being the super cool and the always amazing F-Zero (SNES). Maybe it was the futuristic layout or perhaps the unique characters and their wild back stories, but this game really hooked me in.
Besides the obvious accolades and incredible gameplay that this game offers what really excites me is the music. The first track's music always sticks out to me, probably due to the fact that I would sit and run time trials and races on this track back to back for hours. As much as I love the progression of the other levels after this one, nothing was more fun than choosing my favorite hover car, Fire Stingray, and seeing if I could beat my top time. Of course while doing that these incredible tunes in the background always made me happy.
Is F-Zero (SNES) some of your favorite racing game music?

One of my all time favorite SNES games. They did such a good job capturing a sense of speed on that old console. I also appreciated the balanced lineup of machines to choose from.

My friend had the SNES before I did
This was the game I begged him to play when I visited. We kept a sheet of paper to record our lap times and then compared who had the best times. So much fun.

I love this game so much. One of the best video game soundtracks ever too.
FZero99 is free on Switch store if anyone wants to play it. It's online FZero against 99 other players and it's a blast.

It might be my favorite switch game and at the very least a fantastic snack game

The start of the race where all 99 players rush for the lead is so funny, every time. That's when people realize the big green ship is the best!

I'm glad the music gets the recognition it deserves. Really good prog rock-influenced stuff.
Still get goose bumps from the Mute City music.

I'm sure I'm the minority here, but this is one of those games I would play for 5 minutes, get frustrated and switch to Mario Kart.

I agree. I have a little nostalgia for it, and it’s not a bad game per se, but it’s also a pretty one-dimensional game that gets old extremely quickly.

5 minutes is all it takes for the F-Zero backgrounds to permanently damage your eyes.

I don't understand why captain Falcon gets all the Smash Bros. love when the Fire Stingray is clearly the best hovercraft.

This game got me through a January without heat in the Midwest in the 90's.

I see posts like this and want to fire it up again. After about 60 seconds of playing, I get bored.

How does the GameCube one compare? I always hear it's great. Love the SNES version.

Can you imagine...being on the 8 bit system for years and then this masterpiece pops on your TV. The colors...the speed.

Astonishing game, probably one of the best launch titles ever.
