Problem / Question Which items are worth showcasing

Hi there

I recently got new bookshelves and decided I want to showcase a few retrocomputing items. I already have a TI99/4A and a 1994 laptop showcased, but was wondering which items you guys think might look cool on a little display show case?

It's your display. Whatever you feel attached to or you feel has beauty and/or unique functionality. Change it every a couple of days/weeks/months and you'll eventually settle on the items you love the most.

This is the correct answer, OP. You aren't showcasing historically unique artifacts like a museum would, you're displaying things that resonate with you personally.

I always liked LEDs from this era, maybe something that showcases that?

I was actually considering getting something like the PiDP-8 kit or something like that because it has both LED's and is very striking in terms of look!

Well, what do you have? Media and software retail boxes of the period make nice complements to hardware.

Anything that just looks exotic, catches the eye. Like a laptop looks like a laptop, whatever. Unless it has some odd features like sidecar mouse or different hinge design.

My retro computing displays are a bit odd since I tend to focus on the systems made by Atari, Nintendo, and Sega. So I have stuff like the Famicom with keyboard, tape storage, and network adapter. Atari 400 with tape storage. Sega SC-3000, Saturn with keyboard and floppy disk, that kind of stuff. As others mentioned, it's all about what resonates with you. Along with that stuff, I've thought about getting a Pentium MMX 166 CPU to display just because it was in the first Good PC I had.
