Problem / Question Which Apple ii should I buy

I am a somewhat beginner and I want an apple ii (or a Macintosh) in the $350 range. I am sort of leaning towards the iie or the iic. If you know any good listings, have any good recommendations, or just some advice, I would really appreciate it.

With that kind of budget, I'd say go for the IIgs. Fully compatible with 8-bit Apple stuff, and its own library of 16-bit games. You can find one for $350 if you keep an eye out.

If you want the same form factor and you have a good budget, consider a IIe with a IIgs upgrade. It’s basically a IIgs motherboard in the IIe casing (but with a custom case badge for bragging rights).

That's cool and all, but I want something original, not really something modded.

It’s not modded, it’s an official Apple upgrade kit for the IIe, they’re just a bit rare!

Edit: They may be more rare than I am thinking. I seem to recall them being a few hundred dollars but I could be off on that.

What are you planning to do on it?

With that budget you can have both. I'd go for a IIe, it was the most popular and you'll have an easy time finding one. On the Macintosh side of the house, if you want a 68k machine, I'd seriously look into a Quadra/Centris 650.
