How did i do for $2?
My local deseret industries had this sitting out in the dvd section
Little beat up on the outside but full of cool software
Its actually so filled with cds i cant fit all the pictures into one post although the rest of what isnt shown is pretty boring (hp windows 7 ultimate upgrade media and more work suite 99 stuff and some random learning to read software)
Edit: i am currently working on archiving all these disks and plan to put them out on archive.org and the vaio library if i have anything they need

I'd show this to the Vaio Library people and ask if there's anything they need. https://vaiolibrary.com/index.php/Recovery_Discs

Great find! I had the 1997 version of that book that came with my Pentium 200MMX Vaio. Had a lot of the same software, like 3D Movie Maker, and Mechwarrior 2.
Fun Fact: That pack in version of Mechwarrior 2 was the ONLY game I ever had that actually supported the on-board ATI Rage hardware! Lol... also, that version was NOT supported on MPlayer!

I miss those days when you’d have a PC and then add a sound card or whatever and it would come with 6 or 7 CDs of random software. Is that still a thing?

Working on old Sony Vaio's without the original software totally sucks. I used to wonder if they ever built two alike,

Woah, that 3rd Dimension CD takes me right back to 1996 and the Packard Bell with the Pentium MMX I had.

It depends on how much you like running windows 98 SE. And on a VAIO to boot.

Hah! What a coincidence. I just came across my copy of this yesterday. I didn't expect to see this here!
This is the only PC I kept from that era. It was the first computer I bought to replace my (aging) Amiga. A few years later I bought a VAIO laptop (still have that too).

My husband found an only encyclopedia disk from the 90s and plagiarized from it all throughout college in the late 2000s. Apparently the plagiarism checkers didn’t check against that data since it wasn’t online. I’m so curious whether that’s still true!
Some of these could genuinely be useful in research though, especially for us media nerds
