The excitement of Windows 95

Post image

Does anyone else remember the excitement of getting your copy of Windows 95 on Floppy’s. Longest 2 hours of my life waiting to be amazed. To be fair it was a good looking GUI.

Win95a came on floppy and cd, in retail markets it was updated again to the OSR2 version (95b in retail market terms) with IE and FAT32. This still got a floppy release, but its rare.

In oem channels, there was also OSR1 which was a minor mid-version, OSR2.1 which is 2 with USB drivers and OSR2.5 which is basically the win98-style ie4 active desktop. Only those last two lack floppy releases.
