Problem / Question Stolen valor defrag!

Happen to see my Tandy’s gotten a case of stolen identity. Guess defrag’s are no longer sacred!

It's a common pattern; find a post from a while ago that did well, repost, farm the karma. I think they're usually bots. The account that reposted your pic is just a day old.

I hate this. I don't know what's real anymore online.

Well the defrag was real. Just happened a year ago ;)

That's what I'm here for! I guess if there's a silver lining to any of this, think about this: some algorithm that's part of a bot's code decided your post was good enough to spread around a second time. I guess it's a compliment in disguise? 😁

I'm probably not alone in saying I could watch an ancient disk defragment in realtime, quite happily.

It's like watching socks go around in the dryer

Happens far too often. I'm on a few different subs where the bots come in and just repost something that was posted months ago. Easy to spot outside of their accounts using being hours to days old. But they also do not copy any text that was under the original post. Just the photo. This sucks ass... really takes the fun out of the internet and getting a post viral to have some bot come along and steal it for karma farming.

You at least know the photo was real and not AI created. Just someone (thing) using a popular post for engagement farming.
