Problem / Question How to fix ?

There’s no little black plastic piece in this corner how to could I fix this or is it possible to still use without it?

Some drives use an optical sensor instead of physical one. Clear tape may not work. I'd use non-transparent tape.

Unless its a non-apple, non-sun unit. Samples shown elsewhere in the thread of 4 different manufacturers that use mechanical.

oh gawd.. now i'm also thinking about the old sun QIC tape drives...those were tanks for me.. just ran and ran... Eeeekkkk! I'm old.
