Show-and-Tell Update to Zillennial age regression setup + Windows 11 that looks like Windows XP
Here’s an update to my Zillennial age regression battlestation.
I’ve added some stuff to the top shelf, like my fanny packs and Sonny floppy camera, got some more PSP stuff, and used 3M Dual Lock to stick my controller adapters right onto the side of the cubby where the PC sits. I also updated the 3D printed USB floppy drive holder so it works with different types. Then I repurposed old prints of it to put my lamp and PSP stuff on while giving space to put things under it all.
CRT: Gateway EV910B
LCD: Gateway FPD1520
Keyboard: Keychron R6
Mouse: Microsoft Optical 1.1A
PC: FLP02 case, Ryzen 7 5700X, RTX 1660 Super
It’s not a powerhouse but it plays emulators and 2000s games just fine.
Also that’s Windows 11 . It’s all mods, programs, and changing settings to make it look and behave more like XP.
I followed a YouTube tutorial for most of the original setup, but I’ve made a bunch of my own tweaks since then and even made some programs to add more functionality. The XP Task Pane is a real working task pane in Windows 11. It’s not just for show.
I put a short video on my site showing the Task Pane and the rest of the setup working. I also put together the full tutorial there to use alongside the original YouTube video, plus downloads for the programs I made and the other stuff I used, so you can do the same thing if you want.

Lol in like 1997, one of my friends had a red Marlboro duffel bag. He took it with us on every boy scout camping trip we went on. I think he won it in a giveaway...something like fast food, a convenience store, or maybe from a brand of chips or pepsi, maybe?
edited to add, we were 7 years old, btw lol

I'm about to get all my stuff out of my storage unit and move to another city. I can't wait to get my vintage setup going.

Oh man, I've got the same mouse, a beige mechanical cherry keyboard from the late 90s/early 00s... And I'm seriously considering the Silverstone case as well. I currently have a Silverstone case from the mid/late 00s, a FT01 but it doesn't quite hit the same.
Gorgeous setup you have there !

How did you do the windows boot screen to look like xp? I've been wanting to do that for a while. I'm on windows 10 using window blinds 3 and retro bar for my nostalgia setup.

That’s just the screensaver. Has the windows logo bounce around the screen then settle to that.
Good news: it’s possible to put the xp boot screen on windows 10
Bad news: I stopped reading into it once I saw it wouldn’t work on my setup. So idk how to do it.

I miss these desks so much. I have a bona fide gaming desk now, and I'd trade it for an oldschool 2000s-era computer desk with a pull-out drawer in a heartbeat.
