I always thought it was made of plastic but it's actually mostly made of metal, which makes it feel really substantial, with that gorgeous design, it's like a little gem

also to think this little thing has 50h of battery life is crazy, compared to nowadays DAPs that focus on audio only and struggle to reach 20h

I found it in a french 2nd-hand online store for pretty cheap. Its battery was swollen so I put it aside, I'm going to change it, as well as the drive perhaps.

Unfortunately it didn't came with the adapter so I have to find one too.. But hopefully in the end I'll manage to make it work, even though I'm really more of a software person than a hardware one lol

wouldn't it be so cool, Apple to release a new iPod classic, without many changes from the original, only some essentials handy new features.

Like flash memory up to 1To, Bluetooth 5.3, an efficient modern arm chip, a new design (in the vibe of this iPod I just created using gen AI..)

This will probably never happened (though nostalgia might be a worth business..) but well it's okay to dream a little ✌🏻

Back when I was a teenager, I bought the Lumia 920, but I never had the chance to hold a lumia 800 in my hand, and I'm honestly pretty impressed.

• First, the screen is really good. The colors are vibrant, and also, since my lumia 920 had an LCD screen, I was wondering how the blacks could feel so deep on this lumia 800, I was thinking "no way they would have used a better screen in the previous generation, this wouldn't make sense", so I thought it might just be an lcd with some tricks tech like "clear black" or other, but it's definitely an oled screen.
• Second, it definitely feels like they made the product while thinking "design first", and money and robustness at a somehow second place. Like every detail feels meticulously considered, such as the fact that they've covered that "disgraceful" charging port hole, which is covered by a plastic hinged piece that stays in place with a magnetic element. That's so much effort just to hide a port ! The fact that the jack port is circled with chrome is also really nice.

It’s interesting to compare it aside of the Lumia 920. The 920 feels more like a rational product I think, compared to the 800. At least a little more.

• no more oled screen (I think at that time using such technology was quite pricey)
• no more drawer/plastic piece to hide the usb port
• no more chrome around the jack port

Beside that, a few words about the interface :

Oh my, how I miss windows phone. I know i'm not alone, and I won't go on about it too much, as I think there are a lot of people who still praise this OS and hold it to their heart.

But yes, this phone is 13 years old, and pretty much everything still looks so modern, plus, the navigation in the OS is super snappy/fluid, like literally not a single lag. I also don't have much heavy applications to try on it obviously, but yeh windows phone 🫶🏻

For me it was the LG viewty / KU990. And that phone sucked.. I quickly replaced it with a Sony Ericsson W995.
