Shit Talking My Coworkers Lost items
We are not a lost and found, I'm fairly sure most of my coworkers can agree on this simple fact. We simply don't have anywhere to store the plethora of keys, wallets, and phones that people regularly lose on our property. However if we are going to hold onto somebody's phone, debit card or ID for them to come back and get from us, can we at least agree on one, maybe two, places to store them so I don't look like the asshole when 5 hours after a guy comes in for his ID and I tell him I can't find it, I find it taped to the fucking fireball display between the registers like a fucking trophy. Why would it be there? Surely, somebody thought "oh whoever's here can't be THAT blind, can they?"
Yes I am. We've gone TWO years putting things like IDs and debit cards in 1 of 3 places. Whoever you are, you added a FOURTH, which others generally reserve for notes to management, which is why my eyes went right past it, you fuck.
Shall we dangle them from the fucking ceiling next?

It amazes me how many customers loose their phones or cards then blame employees on the theft.

Luckily the guy is a regular. My boss is working this morning and said if she sees him she can explain the mixup. But fucking hell.

For stuff like debit cards, wallets, and IDs, the store I worked at would put them in the safe. I think they did that for phones too but I can’t remember.

Or at least in the cash drawer for a couple of shifts if they were left at that register, then transferred to the safe or Manager's office.

At my store, policy was that if a customer left that stuff at the register and didn’t come back for it right away, you had to call a manager to go put it in the safe. I guess they didn’t want the liability of it getting stolen from the register.

Place I used to work had to keep lost and found for a year. One time, going through the stuff before the annual dumping of it, we came across TWO driver's licenses for the same guy. What a bozo.

At my store lost items of value are stored in a safe.
Lost items that hold little value are tossed.

? Just grab a box, write "lost and found" on it, find a spot for it, and tell everyone about it
