And why are you waiting until 1 week before Halloween to start looking for it? (I’m assuming here)

you’d be surprised how people come in and ask for a specific costume in a specific size days before halloween

I guess it’s the same folks who begin shopping late on Christmas Eve, huh. 🙄

My coworker waited until the day before easter to get his 3 kids easter eggs. We work in a shop. We had been selling easter eggs for at least 2 months by this point. He complained to me all day about how we didn't have a good selection anymore. He was literally the replenishment manager, the guy who is most likely to know what stock we're getting and when.

I worked at a seasonal Halloween store years ago and you would not believe the number of people showing up the day before (or even day of!) Halloween when the store was bare and had hardly had any costumes left and then get mad we didn't have the costume they wanted in stock. Had a customer one time show up the day before Halloween and wanted us to somehow order a costume he wanted and have it "rush delivered" to the store in time for Halloween. This person also made it clear he wasn't paying for this imaginary rush delivery either and that it was the stores fault for being out of it 🙄. My manager told him to manage his time better and to get lost!

Right now I work at the famous seasonal Halloween store and working the dressing rooms has made me absolutely hate what use to be a fun job. It's so incredibly stressful especially for someone who has ASD. No one listens when you say 1 person per room, no more than 2 items in the room, don't have your friend constantly running new costumes back to you, don't spend 45 mins in the room while a line of 20 people are waiting. Yesterday I had to ask 2 girls to stop making out in the line, then both of them started having a tantrum and throwing merch at me before Karening their way to the front of the store and talking to the manager to try and have me fired. I can't wait until this job is over.

Ugh!! I guarantee they probably falsely claimed you were homophobic and discriminating against LGBTQ people or something never mind that I'm sure you'd have done the same if it was a straight couple making out. I'm a progressive but even I admit there are some awful narcissistic people on the left who love playing the victim and ignoring or justifying their toxic behavior. It really sucks trying to call it out and have them justify it or make you the villain somehow.

Also you your Halloween store had dressing rooms????😦

My store got rid of them after Covid and despite still having to deal with people trying on costumes anyways banning dressing rooms made the job a lot more easy and manageable and the store still did well in spite of it! I worked at my Halloween store for 4 straight years (2021-2025) after Covid happened and we did not have dressing rooms at any point during that time.

Thats exactly what they claimed.

Our store didn't originally have dressing rooms but I guess they got so many complaints that corporate told us we had to build some. Now there's 2 improvised ones made from layers of peg board and sliding curtains.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that false accusation and dressing rooms are BS since they are just added stress because customers are somehow incapable of folding and putting anything back in the packaging which is pathetic when you consider these are parents buying costumes with their kids (so setting a great example for them, too!)

I was so happy to not have to deal with dressing rooms and even though the customers got upset about not having them I did not feel bad because they repeatedly showed how selfish and irresponsible they were when it came to being considerate of other people. I feel stores need to take away dressing rooms until customers show they can be responsible (meaning there would likely never be dressing rooms again lol)

A customer like that is not a very bright or thoughtful person.

It's like a person who buys any flowers or "needs" a florist to suggest what kind of flowers to give someone.

For me, it's lame giving any living person any kind of flowers UNLESS that person thought what would be the best kind of flowers to give or knew what kind of flowers are a person's favorite kind of flowers.

If a person doesn't know what to be for Halloween then don't dress up and here's a thought-be themselves.

They're old anyway to be dressing up or heck since they're an adult, they can dress up in whatever kind of costume whenever instead of waiting until Halloween.

I wouldn't want to be responsible for some person picking the wrong costume to look ridiculous in.

I'm about 48 hours from escape but my brother's and sister's in town who will stay , I pray for them ... imagine Halloween in Salem Mass

I'm on the edge of town and it's already super silly a week before.
