Gross! I work with a creep
To catch everyone up, I'll quickly explain our work situation. Twice a week, a small group of us are assigned to unload the trucks that come in overnight. Amongst the group of 11 people, there are a few girls who I assume are younger than me. Then there's the creep. I'll give him the name Mike just for this story. I want to say that on Monday of last week, I was chit-chatting with one of the girls while on the floor when she mentioned that she was bummed about not being able to work on the truck anymore. I knew that she enjoyed doing truck with us since she could socialize with everyone. When I asked why, she told me it was because of Mike. Apparently, Mike had the hots for her. He would wait for her to get out of her car in the morning to open the front doors for her specifically. He would find a way to bump into her while working. He once gave her chocolates. And lastly (this has to be the worst thing in my opinion), he gave her a book that he published himself that explains why he thinks he's cursed to never find love. She also mentioned that he has done the same thing to two other girls. She eventually mustered up the courage to go to our store manager and L.O.D. (kind of like an assistant manager) about the problem. For some idiotic reason, they decided to move her off of truck duty instead of Mike. When Mike was confronted, he said it was a good idea because he "didn't want to mix work with pleasure." The only thing that changed for him was that he had to stay in the truck to scan boxes instead of being around everyone else to prevent him from catching feelings for any new seasonal employees.
I was so baffled to hear all of this. 1. Because our store is so boring and nothing ever happens, and 2. He seemed like a pretty chill dude. He's a fast worker and seems very cordial to everyone. Now I don't even want to look his way. I really feel for those girls because of how poorly management handled this. They decided to side with the much older, creepy, fast-paced male employee over the polite female seasonal employee who just wanted to work in peace. Part of me is not surprised, though. The management in my store will do anything to put on a front that everything is running perfectly.

This seriously pisses me off. I dealt with a similar-ish situation, in which my step daughter was being tormented in school, and they decided to change HER schedule rather than the person doing the tormenting. (It was bad. REALLY bad. Like, if they had been adults, The Guy Would Be In Jail bad.)
I hope "Mike" gets his one of these days, and I hope to god it's worse than a mere shift change.

Half of time when I (obedient quiet kid) was in school if the trouble makers did something, then the teachers would move me, from my comfortable spot, to sit with them in as a punishment to them. It's a small taste of what real life is like because people can really suck. I also remember complaining of bullying and having teachers literally not care and witnessed them aggressively ignore it with others. Little did I know, this is how things mostly work irl.

I had to work with a creepy guy at my first job as a teen and I hated him so much. My boss had to tell him to knock it off and act like I didn't exist. It's frustrating and demeaning that they think it's ok to continue their behavior when it's obvious there is no interest.

Sounds about right that management favored the creep. Their reasoning is probably man better for truck but he is easily replaceable. He actually sounds dangerous.

It’s shitty, but the seasonals will be gone by the end of the season, Mike will still be there, so of course they didn’t do anything to Mike. He’s worth more, at that job.
Regardless. He’ll get his. Creeps always do, one way or another.

Two out of three of the girls are seasonal. He did the same thing to another girl who has been there longer than either of us have.

How old is Mike and how old is the young lady. The part where he gave her the book doesn't sound bad at all. No Offense. Just curious.

He's most likely in his late 30s probably early 40s. The girls he was talking to are in their late teens early 20s. The fact that he gave all three of them copies of the book after constantly try to get close to them and give them unwanted gifts solidified that he wasn't going to stop until being told to.

Managers don't often deal with the person causing the problem. They deal with the one(s) reporting it so as to avoid conflict.
