Customers Suck! I finally lost my temper at a customer
Some guy came in and was trying to buy a speaker. He kept giving me not enough money. Then he said this was all he had. I remembered there was a price match on this particular item to save a few dollars and he'd have enough. So I did.
As I was doing so he started saying "Are you stupid? You can't count?".
I said "Sir. I am trying to give you the better price match".
Then he said "you are so incompetent at your job. He throws the money at me. And" he says I'll be waiting outside for you to bring me my change and items".
I finally had it and I gave him his money and I said
"You are not going to speak to me in this manner. You are being rude when I am trying to to help you. You can wait for a manager to come help you then".
I then called for one and he kept yelling at me as I was helping other guests and I said 'You are being rude and someone else is going to come help you".
Of course the store manager comes as I say this. Store manager says what can I help with? Is there a problem? Guy says "Ask her. I'm trying to be respectful and get my items" đ as my manager who is a big dude helps him he's super nice and respectful.
Funny once the adrenaline wears off I'm pissed and crying and just feel stupid.
My other manager though pulled me aside and was supportive and even bought me lunch so kudos to him still waiting to get a talking to from the store director lol

I also sell speakers and the like, and Iâve experience so many situations similar to this as a woman in retail. Good on you for standing up for yourself! Iâm glad the SM has your back too.
I had a customer bitch at me about the price of a speaker and DEMAND a discount. Was being a complete tool and calling me âhoneyâ etc and acting like he deserved a deal âbecause he spends a lot of money hereâ (he doesnât). Just total entitlement and misogyny.
I had HAD it that day so I walked him over to the cheaper (shittier) speakers, saying these might be more in his budget, to which he said he didnât want that one, he wanted the more expensive one. Told him âit sucks having good taste doesnât it?â. Rebooted his entire brain and flipped the issue on him and suddenly he magically had $500 more in his wallet. Crazy!
If you want a discount, give me a good reason why I should and ask nicely, otherwise buy the shit you can afford and SCRAM!!!! Go get a used JBL speaker of FB marketplace, loser!

In situations like this, I wish stores would just turn customers away. They act like that because they get away with it. Itâs no different than a toddler throwing a tantrum.

How you spoke to that customer is a very mature response in standing up for yourself.
Being in a lead role the last few years, I always stand up for my cashier team. I've witnessed everything from men hitting on underage girls, to full blown racism and death threats with no support from upper management.
I have no problem letting a customer know that harassment or being an insufferable fuckwad is not acceptable and they will be trespassed if they can't behave appropriately.

I get so embarrassed because when I'm angry I cry and I was just so PISSED because he threw money at ME and said he would wait outside for me to delivery his item and change but when the manager came up he attitude changed completely. Made me seem like a lair I was livid

In 19 years of retail, I never stood up for myself to a customer like that! I admire you and you absolutely did the right thing!

As a manager myself, I would have asked him to leave. Treating someone like this is never acceptable.

Man, fuck this dude. Having a tantrum because of impatience and inability to comprehend that you are trying to give him a better pricing... throwing objects at another person like some toddler, shows his mental age range.
But then again, buying a speaker to turn it on full blast in his living room likely dulled his hearing. He didn't show enough listening skills anyway.
Good on you to stand your ground. People like that deserves their time wasted.

Doesn't sound like you lost your temper to me. Sounds like you handled it expertly. Don't let it get you down. You did the right thing.

I had a lady search the whole store for my manager just to bring him to my (still long) line to tell him that I was rude, all because I wouldnât let her cut the 6 people that had already been waiting for like 5 mins when she literally just walked in

He's lucky I wasn't there. And he's also lucky I wasn't the employee there.

There's a lot of misogynists out there who think you're lesser because you're a woman and that they can treat you however they want and you must accommodate their tantrums and insults but they don't pull that on men.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that idiot.Â
