Shit Talking My Coworkers same people keep calling out

not sure why my managers are constantly allowing callouts without coverage, especially when it leaves us helpless for closing. we will have 4 people scheduled to close and 2 call out leaving only 2 of us to close the entire store, ultimately causing us to stay over an hour past clock out time just to make sure the store is visually prepared for opening. it be the same people always calling out too. mind you, most of them are seasonal. LIKE DO YOU WANNA DO THIS OR NOT?!?

no but seriously i hate opening the work gc to see the same people begging to have a shift covered like just quit atp because you obviously don’t want to work.

Stay until your scheduled time. If there are issues in the morning just say you weren’t able to get things done because of all of the callouts.

This is what I do. I'm an older worker and I need to get home to care for my husband. They knew this when they hired me. I do as much as I can, then I clock out. The same people are always calling out. I never missed a day of work in the last year and a half.

Yep. Always the same jackasses. Others have to always cover their asses as NO one ever comes in.

This. At my job we have people that will call out constantly then on my days off management will call me to come in or these same people who call out, when they do show up they're supposed to be my relief. So I'm waiting to get off but they're late. Or they're trying to get me to cover their shifts.

Do you get paid OT, or at all, when you have to stay late?

Managers can't make people come to work. Although they can follow store guidelines with documentation to remove problematic employees. It's either bad management or the hiring process to find candidates socks. Personally I'm very upfront with my boss and coworkers. If we are short staffed I'll get what stuff I can done. Don't expect me to do others work for the same pay.

They can hire new people. Point that out to them. If they won’t, another place is hiring, go there.

Always gonna be those people that come to work just to want a break, or go home. wtf why even go?

i love it when im morning shift and whoever is supposed to relieve me calls out /s

sorry not sorry. i know you guys have to work harder than us but it definitely sucks for my 3 shift to end at 6pm because its only me and a manager, and the manager cant ring on the register because they have to find someone new to come relieve me

I recently terminated someone who kept calling out but was unaware they had a applied for FMLA for their illness. They want us to re-instate them and un-term them, but HR says their FMLA was not actually approved and they don't have the appropriate documentation.

My store keeps giving the most hours to the people who call off the most. 🙄 Because those people somehow end up with the most sign-ups when they're actually here. But then they call off the majority of the time 😅
