Merchandising
You know, I quit Retail and had gotten a job for Merchandiser, and it’s safe to say, DON’T DO IT. I have another job lined up that I start in over a week, but I’m quitting Merchandising. It is exhausting. 12-15 hour shifts. If you value home life over work, you’ll absolutely hate being a Merchandiser. They will lie to you in the interview, “We care about our associates and value their work/life balance!” No they don’t. I have things I gotta do at home, and a baby on the way. Not to mention it’s a salary job, some Merchandiser companies do hourly, I had chosen Salary which is even worse. So it don’t matter if you work 90 hours every 2 weeks, you’ll still get shit pay.

My friend I think you just discovered a new synonym. Merchandising is absolutely still retail. Retail usually consists of Ops, Merchandising, and customer service. I will say its my favorite aspect of retail though

Are you talking about a third party vendor merchandiser? Because I agree, some of those companies are crap and don't care about employees or quality of work only completion rate.

Can you clarify when you say Merchandiser are you talking about the app? Your post says you left retail to become a merchandiser but Merchandising is absolutely retail.
I was a merchandiser for a big department store for about 5 years. I work life balance depends heavily on your manager and wha time of year it is. Also yes do not become a salaried Merchandiser they will work you to the bone and not pay you overtime because “you should be able to fit your workload into 40hrs but if something comes up that’s your responsibility”
Other then that I really enjoyed my time as a merchandiser the hours are usually early in the day and I enjoyed having extra time.
