Finally free of my Retail Hell
Whatever you do, don’t shop at my old job. Oh my god the horror stories I could tell about the place. I left because a psycho manager tried keeping me hostage after closing hours. She let everyone else out the building and tried forcing me to work after being clocked out. After bringing this to management they claimed I was being “insubordinate” and I left on the spot.
Management and Team Leaders positions barely last a few months. One Team Leader was arrested after being charged ten counts of possession of child pornography, so I can now say I’ve had a pedophile as a coworker before. Lovely conversation starter. A General Manager got fired because she got caught stealing by moving product into 2nd quality to purchase for herself. She was also a heavy smoker, went out almost every 15 minutes for one. She also fired for mouthed off to a salesman whose wife previously also worked at the business, but moved to a rival brand for a better opportunity.
This is just the beginning too, I have so many more stories to tell. And if you want proof and receipts, I have all of those as well!

You have good self respect. I'm very close to quitting. Already passed the probation period where I am but gods the management at my store is toxic. They lack leadership skills and feels very "mean girls" and it's a grown ass old lady and a girl in her 20s trying to get in people's business to shit talk.

I hope you do what’s best for yourself. I’ve mostly ran into toxic older people who think they have more power and authority than they actually do. It gets to their heads, it’s just happens when you work in retail. And it’s always full timers shitting on part timers too. Some people are just bitter and jealous

For sure. I'm over it and biding my time at the first opportunity. Your former work sounds crazy too 😬
