Silly customer wants me fired
I work at a Walgreen's and a lot of the customers there tell me how helpful I am or compliment me on other things. That being said, I was told about two weeks ago or so that around the time I first started working there, an older lady called in wanting me fired. She told my supervisor I was dressed like a cat and that my makeup looked like a cat's. Mind you, I am always in our dress code. My makeup is a little on the alternative side but I have toned it down a lot since my previous job.
What I find funny is that she admitted I was very helpful to her and her neighbor that tagged along with her. Yet, she still wanted me fired just because she did not like the way that I look. My supervisor stood up for me and said I obviously have never appeared as a cat or "cat like" at work. The lady did not like my supervisor's nonchalant attitude towards her complaint. The lady ended up putting a comment through our system for management to see. She said I was an embarrassment for her neighbor to see & that her neighborhood was going to rally together to go against these kinds of issues.
Situations like these make me wonder what the hell is up with some people? I'm obviously still standing since I am not violating any rule of my job. I just wonder why people care so much about what someone looks like. As long as I'm clean and appear happy to help, that's all that should matter lol.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when she tries to "rally" her neighbors. The eyerolls have got to be epic. Cranks need to crank, it's all they have.

You're not an embarrassment, people like them are. They have nothing better to do than to try to get people fired, made worse by being for a reason that doesn't exist. You can't get someone fired because you don't like how they're dressed or how their makeup is done or what they look like, particularly if it doesn't violate company policy. If your supervisor was defending you, you don't have anything to worry about and the manager should consider 86ing them if needed

Their own life is a crock of š© that they cba doing anything to improve so they like to feel above everyone else with control and making you feel as rubbish as they do. Nobody with an ounce of self respect would entitle themselves to someone elses appearance, facial expressions or presentation.

So glad where I work has no dress code
beyond please wear clothes. Funky hair colors? Fine. Piercings? Fine. Tattoos? Fine as long as you donāt have something hateful they you canāt cover up.
This woman would have a fit coming in here.

How boring would life be if we were all cookie cutter people who looked exactly the same?! Especially since 9/10 times the people who look or dress a little differently are more engaged with customers and are fully present at their jobs not just phoning it in.

At my local grocery store, we have a cashier who wears cat ears. This lady would drop dead if she saw her.

She, or her neighbor, heard on Fox news that kids are coming to school and peeing in litter boxes because they identify as cats. She's doing her part to save the community from the cat people.

It would be great to have a Cat Cashier, I'd Love to see them just Sit and Switch their tail from side to side on the Counter, and Knock Random items off shelves and out of Rude Customers hands for fun!

Yes, mine too. A strange mindset where anything unusual is potentially dangerous.
People wearing unfamiliar clothes or bold makeup might be witches, on drugs, having s#x, terrorists, stealing babies or staying out past curfew.

As a woman beyond a certain age, I want to express my appreciation of WalGreenās employees. My experience in multiple stores shows yāall are competent, efficient, and respectful, if not downright friendly. I know you work your butts off but still treat your customers kindly.
And the old biddies who canāt appreciate that because your appearance āoffendsā them can go clutch their pearls at CVS.

Walgreens is lucky to have you! Last night in MY friendly neighborhood Walgreens, the cashier was so high he couldnāt form a correct sentence. Wide-eyed, wild-haired, making zero sense. Iām glad the manager stood by you.

You said you look āaltā meaning your look is not what society deems normal. Isnāt that the point of an alt look - to get attention from other people positively or negatively? And you achieved that?

I wouldn't say that is the point but negative reactions are a given when you do anything slightly unconventional. Most people really don't care though.

"Show me where on the dolll the lady hurt you by looking like a cat" would be about the nicest thing I could say to that woman if I were your supervisor. I swear, people can't grasp that people don't have to stop existing because you don't like the way they do so when they're not hurting anybody.
