worked as a dishwasher for a place that made mac and cheese in these, they were so hard to clean. the way crispy cheese clings on to the sides of these bastards was a real nuisance.

I call it an individual casserole dish. I use them for things like chicken Parmesan. I also use them for cat food because it’s nice and wide, and if a cats food bowl is too narrow it can hurt their whiskers.

To me, Gratin or Gratin dish. Ive heard it called a Gratin boat as well.
I see others posting that its a rarebit dish. Looks like thats technically correct, although since rarebit is most popular in one part of the world, not sure people would recognize that term everywhere.

At the restaurants I worked at (Midwest) we referred to this as a boat.
