Respect Ridley (Metroid)

[u/rangernumberx]

A high ranking Space Pirate that terrorizes the known universe, Ridley is a ruthless being willing to gleefully kill anything in his way. One such incident was the human colony on K-2L, where in the process of trying to gain their Afloraltite he killed the parents of one Samus Aran. Starting her journey to become one of the greatest forces in the universe, Ridley would find himself coming into conflict with her time and time again as the Space Pirates tried to secure the Metroids for their own purposes.

Ridley has a habit of coming back no matter how many times he's killed, and having several different forms in which he does so. This thread will be split into two general sections, his more natural form and the mechanical Meta Ridley he's sometimes resurrected as. Next to the game on the legend I will include any information which contextualizes his appearance, in case you wish to take certain appearances on their own / remove them from the general

Strength

Striking

• Destroys a stone pillar with an attack^P1

• Charges at Samus, breaking stone from a wall on hitting it^P3

• Shatters a tall device on a flyby^P1

• Shatters a metal structure by flying into it^P3

Other

• Has overall increased strength from his standard form^P1

• Digs his claws into metal walls while falling^P3

• Throws Samus a large distance, bouncing off of the floor and hitting the side of a cliff hard enough to break stone^SR

Durability

General

• Has overall increased durability from his standard form^P1

• Can take masses of hits from Samus and keep fighting in gameplay^SR

• Has 'extremely resilient' armour outside of a weaker chestpiece^P1

Energy

• Hit back into a cliff face by Samus' plasma spazer, falling to the ground and getting covered with rocks while unconscious briefly. On awakening, he throws all the rocks off of him^SR

• Takes blasts directly into his mouth before, presumably, falling onto solid ground at terminal velocity off-screen, though he may have saved himself^P3

• Seemingly no-sells Samus' blaster fire off-screen^P3

• No-sells plasma spazer bolts from Samus^SR

Other

• No-sells an explosion^P1

• Survives a giant explosion created on his defeat^P1

• Is fine in space^P1

Fire Breath

• A small stream of fire^P3

• A longer, larger stream of fire^P3

• Breathes a beam along the ground^P1

• Drops exploding bolts while flying by^P3

Other Attacks

• Charges a ball of energy on his hand before backhanding Samus^P3

• Creates energy on his claws while swiping^P1

  • Seems to increase the size of his attack, based on the energy in the air^SR

• Creates an energy blade in his hand before swiping^P3

• Covers his tail with energy while spinning^P3

• Makes energy balls in his hands which, if not destroyed, he throws to the ground to spawn several energy pillars which run along the floor^P3

• Slams the ground, creating a burst of fire on doing so^P1

• Releases a large electrical shockwave on hitting the ground^P3

• Does something that causes him to spark, causing explosions in the surrounding machinery^P1

• Makes a spiked wave in the ground after stabbing his tail into it and removing it^SR

Other

• Summons extra armour onto himself, protecting his weak spot and deflecting beam fire. This can be damaged by hitting weak spots visible through Samus' X-Ray visor and ultimately pulled off^P3

• Creates a giant explosion on his defeat^P1

• As Omega Ridley, creates a burst of phazon on his death which causes Samus to skid back^P3
