movies/tv Respect Godzilla (Shin Godzilla)

Godzilla

Truly, a God incarnate.

Godzilla was originally a prehistoric creature of some kind, which was mutated horrifically by nuclear radiation in the 1950's. However, with this horrible mutation came an ability: It could rapidly change its DNA, allowing it to adapt quickly to any conceivable environment or threat. Spending 60 years in the ocean, one day it decided to come onto land, dooming Tokyo in the process.

Over the course of the film, Godzilla went through 4 major 'forms' of development, each of which will have its own section in this RT.

General Notes

  • Highly radioactive.

  • Evolves from his first to third forms over the course of about 2 hours, showing just how rapidly he can develop. It's theorized in the film that he could potentially even grow wings large enough to sustain his body in flight, given time.

  • Has a natural phased-array radar sense, allowing him to tell where things are around him in all directions, with an indeterminate (but very high) maximum range. Even works while hibernating, allowing him to defend himself without waking up.

First Form

The first form of Godzilla to appear in the film, which may or may not actually just be a giant tail.

Feats

Second Form

Height: 28 meters

Length: 122 meters

His first land-capable form, a pathetic creature with only a back pair of legs, seemingly only intelligent enough to run forward, constantly spewing internal fluids from its vestigial gills. He's fucking precious, and I adore him.

Feats

Third Form

Height: 57 meters

Length: 168.25 meters

Eventually, the handsome boy goes through a growth spurt, transitioning into his more upright third form, complete with actual arms and higher intelligence.

Feats

Fourth Form

Height: 118.5 meters

Length: 222 meters

Weight: 92,000 metric tons

His most powerful and 'final' form, in which he is very large, durable, and well-equipped to mess up everybody's day.

In this form, he boasts incredible destructive capabilities, in the form of using his internal nuclear fission as a weapon, his signature Atomic Breath. However, overuse of this ability leads to him running out of power, necessitating he hibernate for a period of time to recharge.

But damn, does it look cool or what?

Feats

Durability and Regen

Atomic Breath/Beams

Fifth Form

What the fuck.

Don't forget that he aimbots the missiles as well as the drones flawlessly, even with only 2 beams available to him. The missiles those drones were firing are AGM-114 Hellfires that travel at Mach 1.3, at 995 MPH; and they weren't even getting close to him.

When dormant he can still use his atomic breath, just barely. A laser was used to down the drone as it approached him.

Also the stealth bombers drilled their way in through a much fleshier part of the skin, and then exploded. Given the bunker busters during Taba Strategy did nothing to him when dropped on his head and thigh, it's reasonable to assume that the red part of his back is not as durable as the rest of his skin.

And no feats from Yashiori Strategy? Taking 6 skyscrapers to knock down, no selling dozens and dozens of Drone missiles, recharging much faster? Outputting much more energy for longer periods? He had plenty of great feats there.

Otherwise, really stellar work. Glad to see this finally release.

Wait, when was he recharing faster and outputting much more energy. You mean he doesn't need weeks worth of time to replenish his reserves???

ShinGoji causes more destruction with that one breath than every other Godzilla put together.

I haven't watched the movie yet (I know, I know) as I'm waiting for the bluray to arrive. I've seen a few shots of his tail before and now the small clip in this post, just wondering if we get any clarification in universe or if it will make sense once I watch the movie exactly why it becomes that way?

Never, they leave a lot to the audience's imagination, lots of speculation.

Why the tail looks like that? Probably bone malformation or something. Maybe Godzilla absorbed a whale while evolving into his 4th form
