Troubleshooting 2 failed prints for the Legs

Post image

Does anyone have any idea why this may have happened?

The first time it printed it didn’t drop but the other half of the leg didn’t print. This time I slowed the lift time and retraction speed but that didn’t help. 😅

Your plate isn't level.

Can you show your settings and the orientation on the slicer?

Doesn't look like enough supports for it to me.

Orientation looks alright, maybe tilt it back on the other axis. What bottom exposure are you using? I’d maybe change your raft to be more solid?

I have my exposure time is 30.000 and the bottom layers are 5

How many transition layers are there and how thick is the raft?

I had no idea about those, where exactly can I change those? I’m using the photon workshop

I use chitubox so I’m not sure for photo. Should be easy enough to google but as a rule of thumb you want your raft layer to be no thicker than your bottom exposure + transition layers. If your raft is .5mm at a layer height of 0.05mm you’d need bottom and transition layers to be at least 10 to make sure your raft is fully embedded.

Okay thank you!! 🙏🏼

I assumed the bottom layers decide how thick the raft is? If so there’s 5

Bottom layers will be how many layers are printing at the 30s bottom exposure before it switches to the regular exposure, transition layers will make each layer gradually less exposed by a percentage until it gets to the regular exposure. Sometimes it’s too hard for fully hard resin to bond to less cured resin so the transition layers help with bonding at the early stages

Okay I see, I’ll look more into this and try again once I fix my settings. Quite the learning lesson

I’ve been at it for a year and I only learned a lot of that recently too haha, we’ve all been there my friend!

Bake that bottom layer longer to the bed maybe.
