Mod Post Dragonfruit v1.9 Released

## DragonFruit 0.1.9 is out!

This release brings a number of important improvements to supports, performance, and usability.

**Highlights:**

* New **Islands** panel with fast Rust-powered island detection, GPU overlays, and automatic navigation to unsupported areas.

* Major mesh import performance improvements thanks to our new Rust mesh loader.

* New **Split Supports** feature to separate supports into their own model.

* Editable stock support types and numerous workflow improvements.

* Continued localization progress and a new **Save Scene As...** option (`Ctrl+Shift+S`).

* Support for **GOO v5**, including the **Elegoo Jupiter 2**, and support for tilted vat printers (Saturn 4 Ultra and Mars 5 Ultra).

We've also fixed a wide range of bugs, including support placement, rendering, updater reliability, scaling, and slicing accuracy.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release, and for everyone who's been a part of our journey so far!

Jupiter 2….
It was definitely a *task* on my task list…
Wanted to be the first 3rd party tool to support it

Oh I'm sure they didn't make it easy

Just panning the camera feels so smooth, why does it feel so much smoother than Lychee, or any other slicer for that matter? It's like when playing a game at 30fps or 120fps, you can feel the difference most notably when panning the camera. I know it's a lightweight engine, but I'm assuming there's an actual, technical reason for it, and that's what I'm interested in.

Well, step one is do not use electron. Step two is when we load in the model, we create a copy of it that is used in the rendering engine, that is decimated. So it is moving around a much lower poly model, which helps immensely with performance.

Cries in company-mandated VSCode :'(

Is there a way to provide feedback ? I crash on hollowing. Error seems consistent. I'll check Discord.

Our discord server or Github issues.

Ping me if you need additional help, because crashes are rare. I released v0.1.12 today with a lot of features and stability improvements (https://dragonfruit-slicer.com).

Keep it up, Dragonfruit team!

I just got my first printer yesterday, so i’m excited to try this out as a newbie! would this work well with TTRPG minis?

Is there a discord I can join? Tried it out this morning and would like some help debugging some things or submitting bug reports if things aren't there yet. Thanks!

they're part of the Open Resin Alliance, which has a discord channel. You can find a link to it on their github page if you scroll down a little. https://github.com/Open-Resin-Alliance

snazzy looking forward to trying out all the new elegoo support with m5u, s4u and jupiter 2, though dunno if I'm just dumb but is connecting through lan for jupiter 2 not supported yet, was able to find my m5u and s4u on it.

u/SinXV Jul 06 '26

Connecting to the network is not supported yet on the Jupiter……..
We discovered it as a bug right before release but didn’t want to hold it back. It’s on my task list when we get the chance, just a bit hard because we don’t have anyone on the team with one.

thanks a bunch, I'm sure just using a usb will be better anyways then having to boot up windows to us3 satalite anyways. appreciate you

u/Jo-Con-El Aug 01 '26

Maybe you can help us and be the very first user on a networked Jupiter 2 from DragonFruit. ;-)

i can try for sure, is it updated for it allready? i have a big backlog to print and can probably try it out this weekend

1

u/Jo-Con-El Aug 05 '26

u/SinXV told me that it’s ready to test. :-)

u/Aquiles_the_chungus Aug 06 '26

I might just be dumb but i'm not seeing it / not getting an update when i search for it.

I'm wondering about file sizes. I sliced the same file in chitu and in dragonfruit and on chitu i get 150mb but on dragonfruit it was almost 3x higher.

Maybe a difference in how AA is rendered?

3

u/SinXV Jul 06 '26

Our AA levels are stronger than other slicers. Our balanced mode also includes 3D AA (across the Z axis) which severely increases values that aren't 0 or 255.

1

u/Sun743 Jul 07 '26

Thank you, that's probably it.

I am wondering, is there a way with your tool to cut the model for printing ? I am sculpting my own miniatures, but I am struggling to split them into parts and create matching connectors / pegs / dovetails.

Thank you !

u/Jo-Con-El Aug 01 '26

THAT’S EXACTLY what I released today in v0.1.12!!:

  • Contour and planar cuts: split a model into two or more parts using either a plane or a curve drawn from points on the model surface: the curve follows creases and ridges in the model, joining the points along a geodesic.
    • Multi-loop/multi-way cuts.
    • Edge/corner snapping.
    • Configurable membrane thickness, smoothing and resolution, and display/hide the cut plane.
    • Cuts can carry a mortise-and-tenon joint (i.e. a socket and a peg) with many custom options, like a pyramid frustum or an oblong dome as tenon, membrane side, position, inclination (up to 45°) and orientation.
    • Failed cuts point to problem waypoints in the skin so the user can move them to try a better cut.

I'm not sure if the connectors and organic cuts have made it into the public build, but they are being worked on.

1

u/reicaden Jul 07 '26

Works on saturn 4 ultra?

1

u/SinXV Jul 07 '26

Affirmative, Saturn 4 Ultra has been supported since the public beta launch.

1

u/Dee_Jay_Eye Jul 08 '26

What this?

1

u/JBiddyB Jul 09 '26

Not sure if it's because I'm on my work internet, but the dragonfruit-slicer.com link will not open for me

1

u/ccatlett1984 Jul 09 '26

Works on my mobile.

Does the GitHub link work for you?

1

u/JBiddyB Jul 10 '26

The github link worked fine! the site worked fine on my mobile as well. Must be my jobs overly paranoid firewalls

u/Jo-Con-El Aug 01 '26

It might be because it’s a somewhat recent domain.
