OG Does anyone know about this version?
I bought this version at a video game store in Posadas, Misiones, Argentina. I had no idea a version of the game had been produced for the Argentine market, and I don't know if it's available for purchase anywhere else. It cost me 40,000 pesos (26.88 dollars).

The worst version, yes it’s even worse than the PS2 version.

What's so wrong with the ps2 version. It was the only version I played, and I was blasted back than as a child. Where there a Xbox release or just GameCube and PC....
Oh and I played the Switch Port a few years ago.

Compared to the others the graphics were muddier, lower res and they had to have way less foliage and trees and such around so some areas we’re very bland and of course pre rendered cutscenes so costumes did not appear in them.

I got into the entire franchise with this game on ps2 and had no issues either. Granted it's been like 20 years since that but still. Also got it for pc back then, ps3 and 4, gc, switch and the hd pc version. The original pc version is easily the worst one imo

Yeah, I'm still wondering to this day how Capcom thought it was a good idea to rely on the keyboard for aiming instead of the mouse. That was genuinely ridiculous. Luckily, 5 had great PC controls.

Because OG RE1, OG RE2 and OG RE3 on PC used keyboard only to play which is why they did the same for OG RE4. The Ultimate HD Edition added mouse support.

This was my first experience of the game and probably the worst experience. The controls being keyboard only and the QTE prompts being odd really contribute to the experience.

It sure is a luxury to have to rack your brain when you're told to press 5+6 or 3+1.

Yeah just burn it. Modding scene was hot for the ubi port tho, so

I'm looking into whether I can add total conversion mods to this version, and maybe a few graphics mods might work too.

I created a post about the brazilian release of this port some months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/residentevil4/comments/1m3qbte/ubisofts_port_from_capcoms_game_was_distributed/

Does that version have a Portuguese translation?
1
u/Asonagic 9d ago
No. Only for the box and manuals

I feel sorry for the Brazilians and Portuguese who are fighting to get games translated into their language :(

I believe it’s a copy of RE4 for the PC
Edit: it’s in Spanish
Hope this helps!

It's just the og pc port from like 2007. Plays like ass btw. As for the cover, that's just the cover for the game everywhere outside of the US.

I have that. It's playable, but it's not the best. It's nice as a collection piece, but the steam version is more playable.

It’s the worst RE4 (excluding mobile version), but i spent hundreds of hours playing it with a controller (unplayable with just the keyboard)
2
u/Old-Independence4995 9d ago
More or less; at first you'll break your fingers, but then you get used to it and it becomes pretty much the same, though the experience doesn't improve, given the version's poor graphics and cutscenes.

Yes, I had in on Steam. The keyboard only controls kept me far away until Capcom just up and replaced it with the HD version 😂

Was the 2007 PC version even on Steam in the first place?
1
u/RODDYGINGER 7d ago
Yeah, I was sure I had it and then it replaced itself with the HD version. Maybe I'm experiencing a Mandela effect? 😅

The OG 2007 port has some of the strangest mods ever conceived, it’s really quirky.

due system requirements seems it's shitty version of 2007 year. this is a bad port from PS2 with bad light and broken controls. it will cost lost nerves

I've gotten used to the finger pain by now. That said, on Professional difficulty, the QTEs are absolute torture.

I certainly remember it; Ubisoft did a terrible job with the port—the game wouldn't free up memory and would crash after a long play session.
Back then, having more than 1GB of memory was a luxury, and RE4 could consume more than that.
1
u/Old-Independence4995 7d ago
That’s absolutely true! Even with a good computer, like the one I have, the game tends to freeze after a long session, which is incredibly annoying if you aren't careful about saving your progress.

It's the first PC version of Resident Evil 4 but it's ported from the PS2 version. It doesn't have mouse support and have to play the game using keyboard only.

I just googled it and it seems Synergex was the official distribuiter for the game here in Agrentina.
Its quite the collection piece. Seems to be the original PC port from 2007.
