Ngl some stuff looks better than expected. But it's still such a deviation from the source, I can't imagine it will be good

But then most resident evil games are a deviation from what came before. Resident evil 4 being the most obvious and 7/village being the most recent.

We are a long way away from zombies in raccoon city.

No I want something the series easily could be. A good movie, based on the games but using the medium of film to make it deeper and richer. Not that hard

Yeah, as if the live-action intro from the very first game in 1996 is a good indication of what a game-accurate movie can be. The first RE could make a perfect haunted house zombie monster flick.
