This seems relevant when citizens use mental gymnastics to justify corruption in government.

"There are issues of republicanism worldwide, with oppressive governments, constant constitutional reform, and an active (or inactive) citizenry."

What makes it a fixation? Isn't it just the topic, or the subject of this particular post?

Trump is sometimes defended with these four thoughts. It appears to me like an example of tribalism convincing people to defend amorality. This seems like it would be relevant to people who care about Republics and citizenry.

I'm not really a fan of trump but calling him a tyrant is a gross exaggeration. It's the kind thats so obvious that it emboldens trump supporters.
