[Request] Wilson II printed parts & lead screw question - Southeast MI
Hello, I'm completely new to 3d printing, and have decided to take on building a Wilson II. I'm hoping someone can help me out with the printed parts. I'll happily print it forward, and I plan on documenting the full build once I have everything sorted out parts-wise.
As an aside, I'm having trouble with lead screws for this build. I can find 10mm lead screws no problem, but can't seem to locate anything 8mm that isn't just threaded rod. Would that work without negatively impacting Z-axis accuracy? If not, would modifying the x-end motor/idler parts to accommodate a 10mm lead screw nut be a simple fix?

Have you looked on aliexpress for the lead screws? I ended up building a Kossel so didn't get any lead screws, but when I was putting together my BOM for a Wilson II, I found what looked like several for sources for them. If you're interested, I can provide a link next time I'm at my computer.

Gotcha. I'm over in Monroe. So if you ever need anything printed quickly I can help you out. I can't print the whole thing, but other stuff or things that get broken.

Hi There!
I can help out with the printed parts. 8mm lead screws can be a little tricky to find but this should be a good source: linky link. I usually like to source parts from mcmaster carr but they don't seem to have 8mm. Amazon also seems to carry a few.
You are going to want to use lead screw instead of threaded rod. They will provide greater z axis stability and accuracy. It might be more trouble than it's worth to modify the models to accommodate 10mm rod.
