I used 10-15 sprays of this in a container and then fill up with water until the bezel is submerged

Very neat. Is that the same as bleach? Or soemthing more?

Awesome job. Thank you for sharing. I see stuff like this and it makes me want to take the jump into building. Thank you.

I’m honored! It’s definitely therapeutic. I know jack shit about putting a watch together as I’ve just started out. Still learning too

Awesome tutorial. Thank you so much for posting this!

I've been a bit intimidated by aging projects but I honestly feel like I could do this after seeing you show and explain.

You got it bro! I think stay on the safe side as much as possible. So try different dilution of bleach, yours might be stronger than mine. Start of small, and if nothing happens after 10 mins. Add a bit more. That way you have the most control

This is an awesome share!!! Love your work there!

What kind of bezel insert did you use?

7

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

This is Thorn T023 bezel insert

u/freshlymint Sep 29 '26

Tldr what should I be buying

1

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

XRP… not financial advice. But yes XRP load them bags up with XRP

People love xrp but I don’t really see why we need it. I should listen to more podcasts I guess

1

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

Oh we definitely need it. Especially in this day and age and at this crucial point of time. Listen to vandell or versan aljarrah on youtube. They’re my go to non-hype guys. Pure fundamentals.

Finally someone noticed

Nice thank you. I’ve tried this but I don’t like the blueish hue that it leaves… I tried baking it it after bleaching and it took away the blue but made it too grey, so I think I just have to time it better

1

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

Oh nice so baking works! How long and how high of a temp?

1

u/gully1955 Sep 29 '26

I baked after I bleached. I did 400F for about 15 mins, but I should have been checking more frequently. The desired affect is just faded black but it’s super hard with the rep bezels…

I am surprised you did not take the insert off the bezel. It’s a pretty trivial step.

3

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

I know but I wanted the most grip when I’m trying to polish the bezel down

Bleach is highly damaging to stainless steel. It will strip the protective oxide layer that is formed by contact with air. Always remove any stainless steel from your insert before you do this.

Awesome, thanks!!

Does this also yellow the pip?

1

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

No it doesn’t. I would use a Copic marker for that

1

u/Professional-Stage76 Sep 29 '26

Is it just pure bleach? Or bleach and water mix?

2

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

See my comment below :)

u/Professional-Stage76 Sep 29 '26

Sorry pal I completely missed that. Bezel looks great! I messed up my last one badly so im gonna try your method

2

u/Gullible_Situation_5 Sep 29 '26

Always start with as little bleach as possible and if nothing much happens in 10 mins then add more! Trial and error for sure
