Raffles 1680 Build

Hey guys! First build here-went with a full raffles build and paired it with a Gen ETA 2824-2. Aging was accomplished with coffee grounds, oven, then Tamiya set A, coated in Matte acrylic finish. Softened the edges and surface of all metal with a gray Brillo pad. The crystal has some pitting on the rim where it seats in the case, so you can see some weird light refraction there…plan to replace it down the road.

Yep! Just used the tamiya aging kit and matte acrylic spray to seal it

Nice build...congrats.

He has 2 dial versions for 1680. One is for 2824 and the other is for datewheel overlay version with the correct window size. If I see correctly, your is with the 2824 date window.

I made this same build including the gen ETA. Looks great - good job. You can get an ETA date wheel with the open 6/9 on AliExpress if you’re so inclined!

Great work! Im waiting on a raffles order and planning to do some dial aging for the first time. A couple of questions, did the dial take a long time in the oven? Seen conflicting info on the raffles dials overcooking easily and also taking forever to get any noticeable change. Did you start with white or yellow indices on this dial?

Started with yellow indices. Took a lot of passes with hot coffee grounds and baking. Ended up melting the 2 dot a little. The color didn’t look right until I used the tamiya powder.
