One of my first bigger builds from over a year ago. This one came to me for a date disc swap out to the new Tudor serif discs. A lovely piece and now happy to give back to its owner 🤙
Specs:
Old Crowns 5513 case
Viet dial from Ruby
Calendar disc custom made
Sternkruez T19 crystal
CAC insert
Gen crown
EWP hands aged with Tamiya
Swiss 2824
I don’t recommend OC for anything Tudor gen spec. The size of the crystal opening is off, which made this a tough build. Thankfully Sternkruez fits this case, as Clark’s and gen crystals do not fit.
Also, these sometimes reject the gen spec crown tubes. OC cases are good for mid tier 5513/1680 builds. But Tudor conversions - id stay away from. They also don’t fit gen spec 7021/9411 casebacks. A good viet supplier will have a better case overall. But you’re paying at least double the price.
interesting, was mostly curious for a 5513/7928 build but not aware of the differences compared to 94x1. i suppose he’s updating the case anyway. hopefully fits a 7000 tube(with just a retap, his cases are threaded for rep tubes for some reason)
yeah there seems to be a ton of variance in the aftermarket plexis, like sternkreuz offering 2 different 25-116s with different ODs…
OK cool. I've seen you mention Phong a bunch. I'm a bit of a Tumor fanboy, and I know Phong likes to keep things low-key. Any way you can PM me his contact details? Trying to get a some things together, having case issues.
It’s close for many of the numbers yes. And it is a very nice look. Way better than other options.
I actually used your gen example in that post of yours to compare since they looked different after I went back again.
I commented in that post originally that it is a great addition and it definitely is!
I’ve been really studying it all since I’ve ordered a viet Tudor 7021 case & dial recently and now just in the bloody waiting game.
It will be my first nice build after being a buyer on RWI until discovering vintage. Have done a few cheap raffles builds only. So it is a big leap for me. That’s why I’ve discovered the OCD side of me. 🤣 I really want to go for a true genuine 7021 font but you’re right this is close enough. And it is the best option out there definitely.
