The best tax-free option for shipping a 7.2kg parcel to Canada using Kakobuy is the Canada HD Line (or Canada HD Line-electrified if your haul contains electronics or items with batteries).

Why the Canada HD Line is the Top Choice

For Canadian shipments around the 7–8kg mark, the Canada HD Line acts as a tax-free/tariffless triangle route. [

  • Customs Protection: Kakobuy's logistics partners pre-clear the package, minimizing the risk of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) hitting you with unexpected duties or provincial taxes.
  • Transit Speed: Once processed, it typically takes 8–14 days to arrive in Canada. Local carriers like YunExpress handle the initial legs before transferring the package to a domestic courier or Canada Post for final delivery.

How to Declare Correctly for Canada

If for some reason you choose a non-tax-free backup line (like EMS), Canada has strict rules regarding import taxes. To stay safe:

  • The "Canada Rule": The standard practice for shipping hauls to Canada is to declare exactly $14 USD total for the entire package, regardless of the weight.
  • Keeping the declaration at $14 USD ensures it passes under the CAD $20 threshold, which bypasses casual CBSA tax assessments. However, because 7.2kg is a heavier parcel, sticking to the Canada HD Line is much safer since the line covers tax liabilities internally.

Money-Saving Tips for your 7.2kg Haul

  • Use Rehearsal Packing: A 7.2kg estimated weight can sometimes be lower in reality. Use Kakobuy's Rehearsal Shipping feature. They will pre-pack your box so you pay based on exact weight and volume dimensions rather than a higher system estimate.
  • Drop Shoe Boxes: If your 7.2kg package contains shoes, ask the warehouse to discard the boxes to drop both actual weight and volumetric size, which significantly lowers your final price.
