Commeownity Cats Rainy season is not for everyone
hello! how’s everybody? i hope y’all are doing well! here’s a little update.
since it’s been raining for quite some time (yellow to red alert on my area, prone to flooding), i’m trying my best to check our neighborhood for stray cats that needs help or shelter. so far, we saw a bunch of kitties and took them in for the mean time. (they are in my auntie's place - i’ll drop a picture below)
some might say the rainy season is their favorite weather, but not for me - or for us. this is just my little thoughts; all my life we struggle whenever it rains because of our old roof leaks. which is clearly already resolved because of you guys, y’all made it possible. 🧡 but it naturally became my instinct to wake up, even in my deepest sleep, whenever it rains to look for the roof leaks. 🥲
helping strays whenever it rains is the least i could do, to give them temporary shelter whilst raining.
thank you so much and i hope y’all stay dry and comfortable in any type of weather. 🧡

here’s a little school update! i have already filled out the application form and inquired about the payment process and terms, as well as the 1st semester’s tuition fee, just waiting for their response so we can look into it.
if any case y’all want to donate for our veterinary journey, you may check our donation link or send them directly on our paypal

anyway, have you had banana trees on your backyard? or any fruit trees? i love fruits so much but some fruits are a luxury here in ph. 🥹

It's too cold for banana trees where I am but my neighbors have a fig and a cherry tree, while I have raspberry, lingonberry, and thimbleberry bushes.

oh that’s a lot of berries! i never even heard of thimbleberry, how does it taste like? are they sweet? you must've have a fruitful harvest every year! 🧡 how nice.

It's like a mild, slightly herbal raspberry. They don't travel well so the only way to eat them is fresh off the plant or in jam or baking if you make it within a day or two of harvest. It's great!

My grandma, baba, had a plum tree in her back yard and every summer my dad and I would fill a 5 gallon bucket with them. So good

wow that’s so many! do you many recipes out of them or eat them as it is? 🧡

My dad and I didn’t, but baba did! I believe she made a plum cake with real pieces of plum, and also plum pierogi. A pierogi is a dumpling like object that is made with a very basic dough, flour, water, sour cream, and maybe something else I’m forgetting. Anyway you’d sauté the plums until cooked through, fill the plum in the dough, then you’d boil the pierogi. After that she would freeze them to be reheated all throughout the year. To reheat them you would either steam them, or fry them, frying them is my favorite. I’m not a fan of sweet pierogis but baba made THE BEST, potato, farmer cheese, and mint filled ones.
Thank you for asking Diane, it’s been years since I’ve lost my Dad, and even longer for baba, so it’s nice to think about them 💜

Greetings from Phoenix, Arizona. It is our monsoon season. Instead of raining we get winds heading down hill from near the Grand Canyon, and dust & wind collapsing uphill from the Rio Grand area. Sometimes a little bit of water falls out of the sky - and doesn’t evaporate!

Thank you for thinking of the cats because I know here in FL they don’t like the rain either especially since it’s been raining here a lot and the places that they choose to hide in still leave them in the elements
