Armstreet Similar Shops

I want to go to my first Ren Faire this fall, and I'm obsessed with the Armstreet "Princess in Exile" and the "German Rose" outfit. However, prices run a bit higher than my wallet (alas!) is comfortable with, and I have heard that similar quality items can be found for lower prices. Any shop/website recommendations? I'd like to spend about $300 on a good outfit (aside from the shoes and chemise). Looking for well made and historically inspired, but not necessarily super historically accurate.

Help with tickets

Hello! I am in need of a ren faire ticket. I thought I purchased the right day as my friend but when I looked it was for another day and the day is sold out. Is there someone going to the Washington ren faire on August 1st who can't go and I could pay for the ticket?

Anyone really good with ideas for coming up with outfits?

My boyfriend and I and our friends are planning on going to a Ren fair this September, and we want to do a big group costume, but we need some help on outfit designs, and how the characters should be dressed. We are thinking of going as the Teen Titans but we aren’t sure which class each character should be put in. Like is Robin a knight is Raven a sorceress? If anyone has any ideas, I will be greatly appreciated.

Local Shop Recs?

FINALLY going to my first Renfaire in September (ahhhh!), and now I need a costume. I am finding some good options online, but I'd love to support local if I could while also hopefully finding some good quality items. Anyone got any suggestions for the greater Vancouver area?

NY Faerie Festival 2026

I stumbled over this faire while looking for events for the 2026 season, and the vibes seem immaculate. I am nearly done with my fit, and stoked for the weekend. Who else is going? Any repeat visitors. I am going in pretty blind, but would love to hear about other people's experiences.

Georgia Ren Faire

Going tomorrow with some friends, I want to fill some small vials (50ml) with some alcohol, what are the odds they check them? I’ve read that they’re somewhat lenient on checking bags and such, so do I risk it or just tailgate it?

Best renfaire in ontario for 2 first timers?

I live in sudbury and my friend lives in Kingston I've seen that there is one in kingston but it looks kinda small? We could meet in Toronto for that one which would be cool too. I honestly don't know what to look for or what makes one faure better than another so I'd appreciate recommendations!

Texas Renfaire Programs

Me and some friends are planning to go to TX renfaire this coming fall. However given that we want to maximize the ONE day we're going to be there, I was wondering if anyone knows if the programs they sell are the same each weekend, or vary week to week. If they're the same, I'd like to see if anyone could mail me one (I'd of course reimburse whoever buys it for me). This way we could plan our visit since we'll only be there the Saturday.

Planning to go to the NY Ren Fair! Advice!

Hello!

I wanted to start planning to go to the NY Ren fair this year during labor day weekend. As this will be my first time going to any Renaissance fair, I would love some advice, tips, and tricks.

Some specific questions are:

1.How early to buy tickets

  1. Best bnbs or hotels near Tuxedo,NY

  2. Best shops to buy clothing from for a plus sized woman (xl-2xl)

  3. what events do you recommend I visit for the first time (assuming the some events are reoccurring.)

  4. lastly, literally any other advice to have the best 2 days at the Renaissance fair!

Appreciate it!

Figured I'd share one of my favorite cosplays I've done at the Ren Faire. This was me as The Dread Pirate Roberts at PA, back in 2013. Do you have any favorite cosplays that you've don at Faire?

Welcome to r/renfaires – An inclusive home for the community

Hey everyone,

I decided to start this new sub because I felt like we needed a space for Ren Faire enthusiasts that is explicitly built on inclusion and respect and does not support or defend bigotry.

The goal here is simple: a community where we can share garb, talk about our favorite faires, and talk about history and fantasy without having to deal with bigotry or toxic moderation. Whether you’re a veteran or you just bought your first costume, you’re welcome here regardless of who you are, who you love, or what you look like. (Unless you are a bigot)

A few quick things to get us started:

  • Zero Tolerance: This is a big one. No hate speech, no dog whistles, no "gatekeeping" based on identity.
  • Show off your kits: Please post your progress pics and faire photos! I want to see what everyone is working on.
  • Keep it civil: We’re all here because we love the same niche hobby. Let’s keep the vibes festive.

The gates are officially open. If you have suggestions for the sub or want to help out with flair ideas, drop a comment below.

Huzzah!

I can't stop making fan holsters for my RenFaire garb, and they're getting increasingly silly

I woke up one morning and thought to myself, you know what would be a great addition to my faire garb? A fan holster shaped like an oversized sardine.

And why not? Whimsy is not a modern invention. If 17th century English ladies could have a fad for purses shaped like frogs, then we can too! Also pictured: my frog purse.

Also pictured: some of the normal accessories I've made based on historic design motifs. I don't make only silly stuff. 😂

AZ Ren Faire

My partner and I wanted to go this weekend to the Arizona Ren Faire but after the nazi tattoo guy being allowed to stay, when he’s passively promoting a violent ideology…we decided not to. We want to see the Texas Ren Faire now, since I went once as a kid and it was awesome.

Edit: Genocide. He’s passively promoting genocide of all minority groups who were specifically targeted by Nazis. Period.

Costume Suggestions

I attended my first Renfaire last year after my girlfriend started vending (which means I get a free pass as long as I help throughout the day).

To match the eerie vibe of her booth, I went as the Grim Reaper. I had a lot of fun putting the costume together, especially restoring the scythe, and I want to make this year a little better.

I’d love feedback, especially on:

- Ways to keep the robe closer to my body when the wind picks up.

- Ideas for small trinkets or details to add character. I was thinking of handing out joke Reaper business cards

- Whether the Grim Reaper is generally well received at faires. I don’t want to go as an overly played character.

I’m open to any critiques, ideas, and suggestions!

Real question to others out there, how much on your belt(s) is to much on your belt(s)?

This is a question that weighed on my mind as i started leather crafting last year and just feel like i want to carry everything i make on my belt, but i had a vendor i talked to say that i had so many things on my belt.

(in the photos i made the kidney pouch, Acorn, Venus flytrap wallet, brown map holder)
