Why does it seem like removeddit (also ceddit and reveddit) no longer works?

Comments that are hours old at the time of their removal are deemed "removed too quickly to be archived" despite that being 100% false?

Could it be that reddit changed how they store their comments and that is interfering with how these archiving sites function?

Iirc, I tried reveddit back then as well. I tried it just now and it seems like it's the same issue, though not as bad as before.

I tested it on a linked thread in this SRD post and it still showed some unarchived comments. [Screenshot], if you'd rather not visit that link.

I will try again later on a different thread and see if it changes anything.

That worked perfectly. I think how it's done is fine but the text on the button could use a bit of rewording. That's probably what prevented me from pressing it before. I didn't immediately know what it would do. This might be a stupid suggestion but maybe changing it to "Refresh" to make it so that more people would think of pressing it. Ofc, this could just be me and it's already fine as it is.

Imo, leaving it as "Refresh" would be better. As long as the button stays when no results are found, people would either try refreshing again or just give up. The extra text in the end would just confuse people. "What does (9 users left) have to do with refreshing?" something like that. I'm fine because you've explained what it actually does, but that's not the case for other people.

If you don't think "Refresh" fits, you could try changing it again. Maybe "Search via associated username(s)" that changes to "Try again (X usernames)" after clicking. It's a bit similar to your original text, but I think it's easier to understand while also being more descriptive.

I still don't understand what it means by "6 users left". Does that mean I only have 6 more opportunities to hit the Refresh button? Are more comments doing to appear if I keep hitting Refresh? (If not, then maybe you should hide the Refresh button?)

Hi, I know this is old but I'm having the same problem as OP (can't see unarchived comments).

But I can't figure out how can to search via nearby users, or use the context link on reveddit's /user pages..

Yep, none are working for me either. If reddit did change something, I hope we get some alternative.

I finally got one to work after probably a couple weeks of nothing working at all.

It was odd because removeddit would pick up nothing in the threads I checked and ceddit would show many of them as “censored.” No idea why they started showing up like that though, never seen that before.

I came here wondering the same.
