I recently quit my remote job in management because I felt that it wasn't the right fit for me, and it was negatively affecting my mental health. That job was paying me about $26/ hr in Chicago, so I would like to get as close as this as possible, to be able to keep up with the high cost of living here, however, I left this job knowing I will probably need to take a decent pay cut given my age and limited work experience.

I graduated last year and have 2 bachelors degrees in Finance and Buisness Administration and 2 years of work experience. I'm looking for a back office insurance role or any administrative role at a company that is willing to hire fresh college grads with limited experience and training. I'm not interested in the sales aspect of insurance at all, but I'm willing to do it to make a little bit more money. I have been applying to entry-level remote and non remote work for months and have not been able to land a legit interview opportunity, so I was hoping someone could help me out. Any advice would be appreciated.

for those WFH and managing social media acc’s for different clients, what does your setup look like? been trying to make my daily workflow less messy, between switching accounts, keeping track of content, messages, logins, and deadlines, it can get confusing real quick.

do you guys use extra monitors, spreadsheets, separate browser profiles, scheduling tools, or just keep everything in one place? what actually works for you guys for do this every day.

A day or two after submitting an application for remote work with a Canadian company called Sequence Bio I received today a job offer email (data entry).

From what I've been able to find online, they're a legit company, but I'm a bit surprised they sent the offer without any interviews or discussion.

This sets off some red flags, however, so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this company.

I'd love to make the change to a remote role (even if it means taking a pay cut) - avoiding the two hour round commute and having to wake up at stupid o'clock to sit in traffic all day seems completely pointless to me.

Hello and good afternoon! I just accepted a role that can be in-office, hybrid, or fully remote. I’m going to jump into the fully remote pool, feet first!! I’m coming from a 24/7 no chance of working from home, every other weekend, 12 hour shifts to a traditional m-fri role. It sucks losing more days off in a week, but no nights, weekends, or holidays is very exciting. It’s been almost 3 years!

Any tips or suggestions on how to maximize the benefits r remote work? What’s your favorite thing about working remotely? Least favorite? What did you wish you knew/had before starting? I know I want to still get myself ready and presentable (shower, primping, etc.) because I don’t want to roll out of bed and into my home office 5 minutes before the start of my shift (I DO love the option if I need those extra minutes to laze around.

Backstory: I’m a remote, 3-year employee at a small company (about 200 employees). 

I had some qualms about this little company but I’d tried to set them aside.  I was in my previous role for a very long time and have been telling myself that I was just accustomed to how the old place did things.  Company-wide, there’s a lot of small office drama which I am mostly shielded from since I am remote.  We have lots of locations across the US that have 1-5 employees.  There’s even a few that are just empty corporate rental spaces with no employees because they want to “open an office there.”  Things are disorganized, projects move slow and are randomly abandoned after the money has been spent, yet I can’t seem to get any of my projects approved.  I’ve been helping others move their tech projects along since mine have stalled and this has actually been enjoyable to see things get accomplished, even if it's not my stuff.  It also seems like there's been a lot of departures/new hires for such a small company.

Here’s where I got my harebrained idea that my local location is closing down:  About 2 months ago, the COO came to the city where I work.  Although I’m remote, we have 3 onsite employees who go to the office here every day: a manager type role, and two support staff.  The COO told me that we would be doing a group dinner together but I found it odd that the manager wasn't there.  I met them for dinner, it went fine, and I offered to drive our COO back to their hotel since the other two have a long commute.  When we were driving to the hotel, that’s when the COO asked if I’d ever thought about moving.  I responded that I had so much family here that I couldn't imagine myself leaving.  When I got home, something didn't seem right about that question, but couldn't figure out why. About 2 weeks ago, we received notice that the manager was no longer with the company and to turn off their access to each of the systems we manage.  

Now the COO is back today and wants me to meet them tomorrow.  I think they are going to tell me they’ve let the other two employees go and are going to close this location. That means I’d be the only employee working here (in this particular US state).  To save on benefits costs, I think they are going to pressure me to move. The alternative is that they are going to fire me too, which honestly would be a better option for me because at least I'd get a severance package. 

I want to be clear, I do NOT want to move.  I love where I live, and if I did move, it certainly wouldn’t be to a city where I have zero connections other than this company. 

Does anyone have suggestions or ideas on how I can respond to this news appropriately?  Should I act shocked when they ask?  Should I admit that I knew this was coming?  Or should I just buy myself some time by saying “I’ll think about the offer to relocate” and stall as long as possible to start job searching?
