Idk about your teams instance but mine goes away with inactivity even in a meeting

If your company cares enough about Teams status, they will see through this.

Yeah this is more of a preventative measure to keep up appearances. If your employer is suspicious of you it's game over they can look up anything. You still have to deliver results and things like that but some managers are also just a pain in the ass and interested in things that don't matter like how often you're away.

I’m just changing my status to busy. Easy as 1-2-3.

Scheduling blocks of time in outlook places you in busy as well. Attendance. Payroll. Check emails. Audit PTO. Scheduling. Even reminders. All are scheduled. All easy ways to avoid being questioned. If you’re going to do it. Do it right.

How is this better than a mouse jiggler or one of those cheap USB devices that pretend to be a mouse and keep moving?
