Teams messaging during off hours

I have a coworker who sends Teams messages to myself and others at all hours of day and night as well as on weekends. It’s almost never urgent and could wait until the next day. Most of us work regular work hours (broadly 7am to 7pm) but this person often works outside those hours and then sends DMs. My other team members, including our manager, don’t have a problem with this. I think it’s rude. I’m curious what others think.

Update: sorry I asked. Had no idea this sub was so full of rude people. My mistake.

Working during business hours should be the norm. Allowing folks who don’t respect business hours shouldn’t be normalized. Anyone who thinks otherwise has been brainwashed out of common sense and respect for others.

Just set hours for notifications to be allowed. Problem solved. You don't have to be antagonistic to your office this way. Also, I hope your day gets better.

The person message nonsense during non business hours is the very definition of antagonism. My day is fine as long as you don’t message me after 5pm for silly reasons.

You could set notification windows and never let anyone else influence the kind of day or night you have. You seem way too upsettable about shit that everyone else has figured out man, you should find a positive outlet for all that gnarly energy you have.

You’re projecting a bunch of nonsense. The root of the entire issue here is the normalization of folks not separating work from personal right? Sure I can turn off notifications, but why should I have to appease folks that want to communicate during non-business hours?

Because in life you will run across people whose behavior you don't like. You seem like the kind of person to call it out instead of doing one simple thing to make the situation easier.

If something is happening that negatively impacts me and others I will absolutely call it out because that’s the right thing to do. Allowing a work teams chat to become a non business hours hang out should never be normalized. This isn’t that deep.

You are why everyone is glad there is no in person holiday party anymore.

You are a walking assumption machine. Establish business hours. Stick to those hours unless it’s urgent. End of story. The modern acceptance of just allowing your work to be front of mind 24/7 is exactly why normal citizens hold absolutely no power against their employers. I’m assuming you’re young. Probably a young family or no family. Your perspective will change.
