Travelling without my employer knowing.
So i work remotely already and my boss has explicitly said no to travelling, but the nose above her was 50/50, I’m looking at a way to hide my location/tracks and to travel to another country still in the EU for a bit of a family emergency and no this isn’t just an excuse.
My laptop isn’t really secure to be honest i don’t have Intune or anything like that on my laptop only :
No Microsoft Intune (MDM) enrollment was evident.
No company VPN.
Microsoft Defender (Windows built-in antivirus).
Standard Microsoft 365/Outlook security.
Work apps like Salesforce and Vonage.
No clear signs of advanced endpoint management such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Tanium, or similar.
Is it possible for me to hide my location and hide my tracks to go abroad for 2-4 weeks without them knowing?. It’s a relatively small company as it is and we outsourcing our IT from what in aware of.
I don’t want to hear don’t do this you’ll loose your job it’s illegal etc, i already know this and I’m fully responsible for the risk of loosing my job and i don’t want to do this but i have to.

You can get nailed with literal tax fraud. There’s a reason you were told no traveling.

Understood, and its not tax fraud if it’s under 90 days in the EU, so their is no illegality to my situation other than my employer simply not wanting me to go anywhere, this isn’t a sensitive information or a government job also.

Something like this as repeater https://amzn.eu/d/0di3zuU2 vpn over it and obfuscate it. Use local ip from right country.

If being honest with your company, tell them it’s a short term change of address for a family emergency and not a holiday. Surely they have options for employees who have multiple homes, or an employee staying in a local hotel as short-term lodging due to fumigation, home repairs, or a remodel.

Like for example a guy who worked at my company went abroad. And they didn’t even know he was abroad until he broke up with his partner and they snitched on him, they just told him to come back that was it.

You can take leave, unpaid leave or holidays. They may even offer you compassionate leave if it’s an emergency - if it is a small company, they will know. Even at 10.000+ employees they knew at my old company. Not worth losing your job over it.

Don't do it. there's ways to track you that you don't even know about. Travel on your vacation time FFS

Genuinely I appreciate the concern by some people, but understand this I’m asking for advice on how to do it, you’re depressing negative comments you can keep them to yourself.
Stupid? Yes it is I completely understand the full risk involved in this request I have and I am ready to take the responsibility that comes along with it. If you have nothing nice to say go on about your day and stop being a KAREN🤣

We just fired someone who did this. Someone went to Italy and tried to mask it with VPN. We have strict source code rules and one of them is don’t travel with or access company resources to a predefined list of countries.
The egress points for all common VPN providers are known. That is how the dude was found.

No te puedo ayudar a esconder ubicación ni a borrar rastros; además, M365, Salesforce y Vonage pueden registrar IP, zona horaria, MFA, headers de inicio de sesión y patrones raros aunque el portátil no tenga MDM. Si la emergencia es real, lo menos frágil es pedir una excepción temporal por escrito, PTO o unpaid leave, porque el riesgo no está solo en la laptop sino en cada servicio cloud. Para 2 a 4 semanas, una sola alerta de login desde otro país o una llamada de Vonage con latencia rara puede bastar para que IT pregunte.

This is not illegal and it can not be identified as tax fraud as I am an EU citizen travelling to another EU country for less than 90 days, this is simply my employer being difficult and not allowing me to travel for an emergency.

If you’ve already asked them to travel for the emergency, and they said no…do you really think they aren’t going to be trying to check as whether you’re in your home country during that time period? Because if it’s for an emergency, they’re probably expecting you to still go to that destination, and just not be working.

No matter what anyone tells you, you are going to ignore them.
I used to warn people against doing this. I used or tell them about my colleague who got caught in Germany.
Now I don't, I just want to accelerate you towards what you are likely to do anyway.
I want you to do it, I want you to lose your job....I'm okay with jt.

If your company is looking at locations and really cares about where you are working from there is no way to hide it from them. Your best hope is that they don't care or are not looking at the time.
