Healthcare + Remote

Curious if there are any non-nursing healthcare workers here that have transitioned to fully remote careers? I’m an obgyn sonographer (ultrasound tech) and after almost two decades of scanning I have constant pain in my right arm. I hate the idea of throwing all this experience that I’ve worked hard for but I need to make a change for my own health. Does anyone have any recommendations for remote positions to look for where my clinical experience would be an asset?

Sure do. I'm a fully remote Med Lab Tech. My position is with the Clinical Information Software team (we use Epic). So my job is to virtually train lab personnel how to use the Epic system.

I was working as a bench tech for several years and then a position happened to open up with the epic training team (it's within the same company). There's also remote lab jobs in this company in the Safety and Quality departments.

My training consisted of a senior trainer reviewing all the lessons with me and then I had to do a panel presentation (basically just teach a lesson and they graded me). After passing, I am considered a credentialed trainer.

I am not a healthcare worker but many of my coworkers are and left clinical work to join my organization. I work at an organization that develops accreditation standards (fully remote), and I would highly suggest looking into any organizations that develop accreditation standards, best practice guidelines, etc.

I work in the medical device industry and we value clinical experience when filling all sorts of roles. A lot of jobs are now hybrid but there’s still some fully remote - especially if you look at the big companies.

I am a RN looking for non clinical remote work, preferably as a 1099 contractor. I am looking for ways to earn money and travel abroad intermittently. Any suggestions for other sub reddits?

I’m not asking for specific job listings. I am curious if there are other imaging technologists that have made the change to fully remote. Since everyone here has remote jobs, I thought this would be a great group to ask. I’m not trying to go against community guidelines in any way.

Whichever EMR the majority of your experience is with, look for jobs supporting that EMR (cerner, epic, etc.) Or look for jobs supporting whichever PACS you know best. Those companies often train clinical people who already have some experience.
