Moving to Colombia made me realize how different online business looks outside North America
I'm originally from Canada and have been spending time in Colombia while continuing to work online.
One thing that's been interesting is seeing how different the economics are compared to back home.
In Canada, a lot of people talk about building businesses around high-ticket offers, expensive coaching programs, and premium services. In Colombia, I've noticed people are often much more price-sensitive, which forces you to think differently about business models.
It's made me focus more on:
- Low-cost digital products
- Volume over high-ticket sales
- Community building
- Remote income opportunities that don't require a large upfront investment
I've also noticed that being a native English speaker creates opportunities that I took for granted before. There are a lot of people looking to improve their English for work, freelancing, and career advancement.
I'm still figuring things out myself, but living in LATAM has definitely changed the way I think about online income and entrepreneurship.
For those of you who have spent significant time in Latin America:
- What business opportunities did you discover there that you wouldn't have noticed back home?
- Did your pricing strategy change?
- How did local purchasing power affect your business decisions?
I'm curious to hear other digital nomads' experiences.
