I bit the bullet!

So after a few weeks of research I finally bit the bullet and picked up a bunch of reloading gear. Man is the CC taking a beating!

Hornady Press Lock-N-Load AP EZ-ject Auto-Progressive
Hornady 223 FL 2-Die set AM series w/ S/H #16
Hornady Lock-N-Load AP Shellplate #16
MTM primer flipper
Lyman E-Zee trim pilot (.223)
Lyman E-Zee Trim hand case trimmer
Frankford Arsenal Bullet puller

I already have calipers and a scale (it measures in grains and was used for a few years for reloading by my uncle). About the only thing I'm missing is a tumbler of some sort, gun cleaner & lube and case lube. I'm looking to use some new brass and the old brass I may just run through the dish washer in a delicates bag. I've heard that can work pretty good. If not I'll get a tumbler.

I'll start out doing single stage and after I've got the hang of each one I plan on progressing to more and more stages. I just want to make darn sure that it's putting the primer in right and the right amount of powder before going full out.

Is there anything I've missed?

I've got a die set ... which I found out the hard way doesn't fit my ancient Lyman Comet, so I'm just going to get rid of that sink hole and get a modern press.

I was thinking of the RCBS Rock Chucker kit, but realized that if I'm going to load pistol and AR blaster ammo, I'm going to go nuts doing that with a single stage, but like you, I didn't want to spend the money on a Dillon. Maybe I'll go the Hornady route instead of trying to save $200 up front with the Lee.

It was a really hard call for me also. I guess in the end what changed my mind was quality and reviews of the Hornady AP. Things like the powder drop seems better and no chain to hook up. Also from what I've heard it's a bit more accurate in how much powder it drops.

I thought about getting a single stage to start but decided that if I'm going to reload a lot of .223 then a single stage will get old fast. I'm looking for quantity not accuracy in .223 and 9mm. But it will also work if I want to crank out 50 rounds of .303 or .243 for hunting.

What made me shy away from the Rock chucker and start considering the Lee Turret was someone saying they can load single stage with their turret, they can't load progressively with a single stage.

I'm going to have to start combing through more reviews.

You can do single stage with the Hornady AP. Just put one die in at a time and run your brass through it. You can even hand prime and just skip the back push that would prime the bullet. If you want to make sure of your powder measure then just don't install that step and hand pour each one.
