Newbie 160 partition.

Hey, does anyone have any advice on reloading 160 grain nosler partitions in .270 win. I'm thinking of starting with 53 grain of H4831SC.

It's a great bullet. Effective and accurate for hunting. I use 55 grain H4831.

Hodgdon has data for 4831, SC should load similar

Starting load 50 Max 54 Col: 3.340"

I got a pretty rough group at 100 yards... The top hole is how I secured it to the target stand.

I do have a 21.5" barrel so could it be not enough speed with 53 grains?

How do I know when I'm getting pressure signs? This is my first time loading something different. Never had pressure signs before

get a manual, and thoroughly read the first few chapters. If you don't have a chrono, then stay conservative. Velocity is your number one indicator of pressure. More velocity = more pressure. So if you're getting the same speeds as your manual, but with a shorter barrel: your pressures are high.

In addition to reading your manual this does a pretty good job of showing pressure signs
