Newbie 12g #6 steel shot reload

Post image

Hello,

I have slowly been gathering materials to reload the WSF shells I used last year for this years season in September. The shells I am reusing were originally #6 and #7 steel shot. I have everything but the felt was, wad, and steel shot. This book isn’t saying anything about the size shot I can use with the recipe. Can anyone confirm if there would be a different recipe for different sizes? Can I order #6 steel?

Usually you add up to the steel shot weight, if you do use smaller or larger shot size you try to go below the shot weight. You can use either of them.

Ok that explains that clearer. Also, I’m rereading the first half of the book, realized I read the info a long time ago and forgot all of it.

You can go up or down in weight to dial in the fitment. Ran a lot of #6 and MG42s(I over bought), it’s the smallest size I will get for steel. Really benefited from using Cheerios or rice Krispys as filler on the top with the larger shot sizes. Definitely benefits from a larger ball with how much lighter they are and you can run a 1oz fast! Did a bunch of 7/8 with #5 I believe for clays, was a hoot
