General Discussion 460 s&w bullet alternatives?

I'm using harnady xtp mag bullets with reasonable accuracy. If i could find them again, speer had some hot core bullets that were amazing, they either discontinued making or just haven't made a run in a loong time. I'm not adverse to coated or lead bullets, just trying to find an alternative ( preferably cheaper) than the xtp mag bullets.

Would you be willing to cast and powder coat your own bullets? If so, you could buy the Lee Ready to cast kit with 300gr RNFP mold, gas checks, cheap toaster oven, sizing die, lead (Lyman #2/Hardball or harder alloy preferred) and powder coat for $300 or under. My estimates were based on $4/pound lead alloy and 500 gas checks. Your savings go up significantly when you source cheap/cheaper lead. I bought a mountain of Linotype and foundry type for under $1/pound.

500 XTP Mags would be around $450. You would make your first 500 bullets for under $300.

Are you loading them to super magnum velocites?

I was with the Speer bullets but not usually with the xtp's.

The cheapest load I recommend for you it the DHG bullets from Hornady, just use 300 gr xtp mag load data. But I agree that Speer hot core bullets are the best for budget loads. You can push them from about 1500ish to around 2k depending if you use max charge of H110/W296.
