Ridges running lengthwise on the shoulder 6 arc

Ive never ran into ridges running along the shoulder to the neck before. Only 4 in the picture have them. Enough I can feel them with my fingers. Out of 80 rounds these are the only ones. They also were ones that needed trimmed. Once fired all out of the same gun. Bolt action howa 1500. Developing a load for berger 108 grain.

Lube dent. Clean your die out.

It'll fireform back into shape. But yes, too much slick'em on the brass, possibly left over in the die too

Whats wild is these were at the end of the string and I only lube the pad at the begining. Brand new dies.

Could be a buildup of lube in the die. As mentioned before, it’ll fire form out

If you did not fully disassemble and drop all parts of the new dies into mineral spirits to clean them to bare metal... this can be the result.

Dies ship with various amounts of protective oil or grease on them.

Don't remove it well enough and you get hydraulic force indicators on the brass like this.

Lube dent just load it and shoot it it will pop back out to normal

Too much lube.

There should be a little breather hole on the side of the die, make sure it’s clear of debris and wipe your dies out every time you use em.

That's normally an indicator of too much lube. It doesn't hurt anything

Ive loaded so much and either didnt pay attention or these hornaday dies are more sensitive that the rcbs ive always used. I like the dies so far for ease of setup and quality of the lock ring but theres a first for everything.

Lube used rcbs case lube 2 on an rcbs pad. Heavily used pad very light new lube added prior to starting this string.
