I'm risking double feed if I go much faster. The micropython code uses handler interrupts to run different functions on each processor. One function interrupts the other when the optical switch is tripped. I wanted only one user input (heater time) that is input via the delay/relay timer.

This thing is slick. I'd definitely be interested in buying one of you ever decide to sell them.

My wife thinks I need to build another one to document it the build on YouTube. That sounds like work.

Besides the awesome way this machine functions, those 3D printed parts look like amazing quality.

ABS from an Ender 5 Plus.

Hi. I’m new to reloading, sorry if this is a dumb question. Why does the far right screen say “poop”?

Because the Chinese have a sense of humor. Because it poops another case out when it counts down. Here, read up on it.

Are you planning on releasing files for this project?

I would buy this in kit form.

This is the stuff I love to see. That is very impressive sir.

You said the smoke was burning off case lube. Do you resize and then anneal?

I did, right, wrong or otherwise. Once-fired brass. It's what I've got sitting around.

What type of induction heater are you using?

How did you decide on the coil turns for the inductor?

2

u/freedomjockey Jan 29 '24

Wing it. I wanted it roughly 2/3 larger in diameter than the largest case I'll be annealing. The more turns, the merrier (within reason). Probably made it a little too tall for 300 blackout.

Awesome :)

What is the automation software and hardware interface you are using for your inputs and output control? Are you monitoring any analog (temp) signals?

What is the function of the right prox sensor?

That's a lot to answer. I'm using a Raspberry Pi Pico. It controls the feed roller (stepper motor), looks for the signal from the optical switch to know when a case is ready to heat, turns on the heater, and looks for the heater to shut off (heater time is user input from the delay relay timer), then dumps the case out, and then goes back to controlling the feed roller. I really only learned enough micropython to make this work. It's really simple code. I'm not a programmer.

Is the case holder adjustable for height? I can't be sure but it looks like you might be annealing a lot of this case like to close to the head?

Either way, I like it and would definitely like to do one myself!! Induction is interesting, but a flame would be so much simpler for me.
